Ideally, it should be in a separate area away from the WC but if can't you'll need to actively ventilate with an extractor fan venting into the outside and NOT the ceiling space. If you use a front loader some tiny kitchens in the UK accommodate a washing machine next to the sink. They employ a washing machine / dishwasher drain waste vent to allow the waste water to drain out. But this one needs proper planning in the kitchen. Ikea sinks and majority of European ones like Teka, Blanco include dishwasher and washing machine waste vent accessories in the plumbing kit. Also the FL washer needs to be able to remove their top cover otherwise the work top needs to be 86cm free space height underneath to accommodate FL that does have a detachable top cover.

I have mine in a toilet as well, but there is no shower activity going on. Just the toilet used sometimes. Door is also open always. Will humidity be a problem in this case?

Humidity isn't good in general for a house. But strangely it's hard to find anyone selling dehumidifier systems here.

It can encourage growth of mold in your machine. As for what previous poster stated about PCB damage, not very sure on that.

a friend had his washing machine installed in the bathroom, and the machine spoilt. when repairman came, he took out the pcb and showed my friend. it had rust on it. the repair guy advise was not to install it in the bath room

i think i saw it before at Harvey Norman but was quite expensive. i bought a Samsung dehumidifier through lazada early this year. Cost me about Rm750. It was shipped from Korea. Kena more than Rm100 tax by customs but luckily can claim back from Lazada. very effective in absorbing moisture. in 12 hours it can collect more than 4 liters of water depending on setting. good for drying clothes indoor

just have to read terms and conditions carefully especially 11 street and gemfive because most of their overseas purchase doesn't include any other taxes incurred so u'll have to pay if kena.

didn't know humidity will lead to washer issue, so not only placing in bathroom has problem, some other area which is damp/humid also will have same problem..

Normally dehumidifier is warranted when these conditions are met:
1. Low temperature
2. abnormally high humidity ie hot shower bathrooms.

Places like Fraser's and Cameron's where bathroom don't have heater integrated ventilation are notorious for causing mist to precipitate. This is also prevalent in places like HK and Macau and temperate regions like UK, US, Canada and Australia. If not dealt with, mould thrives and subsequently damage stuff or pollute the enclosed environment by their proliferation.

For siting WM inside bath/shower, esp WC we're dealing with another no-no:- fecal coliform being diffused into the air by flushing toilets. Japanese culturally prefer the toilet isolated from the rest of the others. Hence, in some houses even in MY, the bath, WC and basin area is put in separate enclosed areas. I prefer this setup as it allows utilisation of the other facilities without blocking.

Active mechanical ventilation venting out to the open air is recommended in this manner. For FL, leave the door ajar to allow airing by the ventilator. Then periodically wash with borax and bleach at 90°C if it isn't equipped with auto clean feature. Caveat: do not do this with a top loader esp if it does not come with hot wash feature. Even with hot wash, it should not be above 50°C.

Yes but it can be mitigated as long as that area is kept dry and the WC is partitioned away assuming the shower area is kept enclosed and not in the same space as the washing machine.

Well damn.
Got distracted here while on a paint job. Ended up when I was supposed to paint the finishing coat I used primer instead. Face palm.
Talking about humidity, anyone has any experience painting at night here. It seems most weather reports marks humidity at 100% at night, so assume I can't paint then?

so that means, I'd be safer to share the wet kitchen with the WM, compared to placing the WM in the bathroom.

Either way can but planning and modifications are needed because they weren't made to accommodate it in the first place. As long the toilet is not also the showering area then you add a partition even a shower curtain. Ensure you use WM blocks with rubber to prevent washing machine "walking". If you're showering there where the WM then Billyboy's warning holds and I wouldn't recommend it too.

in europe most of the washing machine and dryer is in the bathroom where you can shower. i guess you need the right brand and also something to dry the wet floor after bath.

yeah, the air that comes out is warmish but you know what, in my humid apartment, somehow it feels cool when step inside. from what i read, lower humidity gives the impression of cooler feeling which seems true.

This is because your body cooling system easier to evaporate the coolant (sweat) in drier air, Thus body heat dissipated thru the evaporation faster than in humid air.

Reducing humidity in Malaysia is a joke to begin with. Wiki already stated high humidity.

Just in case someone needs to see the numbers.
Basically there's not much issues on putting the WM in the toilet, just make sure it is well ventilated with door and window opened when not in use.
*
Exactly because the air is humid, does one try to alleviate the situation. Is that hard to get?
It's like saying, getting an air cond is a joke to begin with. Wiki already stated tropical weather.
If anything, we need dehumidifier more than most.

in dry country like europe then its ok. i had washing machine in toilet for many years no issue.

but in malaysia, i think the humidity will really cause issue to the system. better not.

but if no shower, then i think should be ok. just keep window and door open.
