I dunno about alan wong, but Jamie oliver is overrated, and rightfully was beaten by an iron chef America who is no slouch either when compared to puck/ramsay or any of the older Japanese iron chefs...

iinm many professional chefs dislike Jamie oliver bcos he's basically the prototype hipster chef and that he is largely self-taught and never studied under the many famous euro chefs like robuchon/ducasse/boulud/roux/etc. or worked in those famous restaurants like el bulli etc...

and his book sales are high was bcos every tv show featuring him will have an accompanying book (yes, there was a naked chef recipe book way back in the 1990s).

while ramsay only started doing this around the '00s, bcos he was more busy doing other tv shows and also handling his various Michelin-starred restaurants.

which invites the question: how many Michelin stars does Jamie Oliver has?

can't really call her a fake chef since she at least she has the proper certs for it.

agreed, Jamie is the better businessman and aided by his upbringing (iinm his parents were owners of a normal restaurant).

and that Jamie was not ashamed to put his name on products sold at regular supermarkets (aka merchandising) something which most pro chefs usually don't do.

not to say that ppl are scared of Michelin starred chefs, but that's probably the contention between Jamie oliver (and his peers) with ramsay (and his peers).

Jamie has always did it in the simplest way bcos he was not 'properly trained' but that way is most ppl are most willing to do bcos to do it the Michelin star way would mean you need to take course in culinary arts just to cook a simple steak.

of which ppl like ramsay did went thru, hence the hate on each other...

not a hater of any of them though....

ramsay earns money the old fashioned chef's way, from restaurants and only recently did cookbooks and also multiple TV show deals.
