I've tried making custom silicone sleeves, after that experience I understand why so few manufacturers offer it as a option even though silicone is more comfortable and forms a better seal to your skin.

No matter what silicone you use, there is always a loss in some frequency of the sound. Custom is the best.

tongue.gif i was trying to add to that discussion by being vague about what the silicone sleeve was, could be a tip, a grip, in all three cases the same techniques are used to make a custom.

But seriously the process of making and tuning an iem using filters and different lengths of tubing is easy to do but hard to do right, the whole process can be fun in and of itself but fair warning to anyone thinking that its cheaper, it isn't. After time and material costs its about the same if not more than buying a finished iem off the shelf.

You are correct. My investment is 5digits already. It's fun yes, but time consuming. 2way crossover is easy but anything more than that all I can say is good luck! And one more thing, getting the resin to form a beautiful shell takes many many many practices and effort. Everything needs to be taken into account.

Haha, a cable cannot beat superior crossover design tongue.gif
a note for you, my cable is no slouch either hehehehe, I've read the Aries 2+ specs and devil.gif
My 3 drivers IEM have a small issue due to that day a bull use a cheapskate MMCX jack on it, almost destroy the female jack. Luckily it's still functioning. But the cable cannot re-plug in after being taken out. But still works perfectly for testing purposes just aesthetically not pleasant to the eye.

by the way:

Reshelling Universal into customs can be done, so far the IEM that i've done are TF10(most common, one is on the way), Shure SE535+one super high frequency driver, JH5. Known IEM that cannot be done are IE800, IE80, Beyerdynamic Xelento, Sony MDR-EX1000, XBA-H/A series.

I will be rolling out my own CIEM brand very soon. Now it's just some paper works and demo units preparations. TF10 is good thou IMO.
