My guess is that the packages will be revised next year. The current promo and upgrade offers users are getting are probably to establish the base prices for next year. Current users are given the opportunity to get the newer prices now, with an extended contract , and maybe with a slight advantage over newer users next year.

But the differences cannot be too great. For example, if a current user is going to pay RM179 for 30M now and get upgraded to 50M next year, then 50M may be around the RM179-199 range next year. It could be RM199 but with some add-on. New 199 user cannot say they are paying more than old 179 user as they get some add-on. Old 179 user cannot say they did not get the add-on as they pay less than new 199 user.

There are 5M users offered to upgrade to 10M for RM159 and get free upgrade to 30M. This means that 30M base price may be at RM159. Maybe next year the 30M will be at RM179 with some add-on.

There are many variations of old packages. I think most will be adjusted to new package pricing. For example, maybe discounts will be given to those paying more than new package prices.

Since old 5M at RM149 will be upgraded to 10M, that is the lowest package. This fits in with current highest Streamyx 8M package at promo price of RM140.

Looking at the different upgrades and offers, my guess is the base prices may be something like
30M = 159-179
50M = 179-199
100M = 229-249

I think there will be price adjustments for old users who may be paying higher than new pricing. This could be the thank you surprise and better offer mentioned.

Just some guess work...

Good analysis but again no B&W from TM that they are giving free upgrades to old users. Again not sure how they evaluate the eligibility. laugh.gif I will wait until next year after all it's just few days away and see what they have for us (old users). If they come out with something which doesn't favour us, I'm sure many of us will give them a good lesson with MCMC's interference. laugh.gif

Till date, I have not received any surprise email from TM. Anybody else in the same boat as me? laugh.gif

I think old users will get some sort of upgrade or price discount to match new packages. Although few days more, does not mean we will know then. It could only be later in 2017 like April. Also they have said it is stages. So some may only get later next year. Also may be only when old user contract about to expire whereby agreeing to a new free upgrade etc may extend the contract further.

Should be interesting to see what happens next year...

The terms of conditions for free upgrade stated on the website says that the upgrade is only for new subscribers from 1 December to 31 December. Does it mean that those who subscribed earlier is not eligible?
*
This Dec promo is to get new users to subscribe with the free upgrade incentive. It is also to get old user from other packages to switch to this to enjoy the offer. It is also to compete with similar competitor packages. It does not mean those other old users will be left out. The speed upgrade in the budget should still apply to old users. It is independant of this promo. The promo does not say if old users do not switch, they will be left out. This promo is to gain new users and retain old users and move as many users as possible to a monthly fee of RM179 to maintain revenue.

Since when do users get good offers or free upgrades? That's why I think that next year pricing will not be much different to this offer. I may be wrong, but that is what I think at this moment. Anyway, I hope we all get better value for money next year.

Yeah. It would be really unfair if we can't get it. It was previously said that those who got free upgrade before this would not be eligible and now they limit it to those who applied within this month. Pfft.
*
I think that refers to for example a 5M user who got a free upgrade to 10M a few months ago (before budget). That user will not get any further free upgrade next year because actually 5M supposed to only go to 10M next year anyway. But looks like they started to give the 5M user chance to get to 30M by adding extra RM10 to go from 5M to 10M then free upgrade to 30M next year.

So the best is streamyx package: RM110 1Mbps will free upgrade to unifi 10Mbps
RM110 for 10Mbps fiber optir. drool.gif
*
My post from another thread:

I don't think this means a free upgrade for Streamyx. I think it means there is an option for Streamyx users to upgrade if it is available in their area. That's why it says voluntary. Which also means that you will have to pay the new price of the new package.

I posted in another thread that my guess is that Streamyx users will get a speed upgrade where technically possible.

Old prices were 2M = 130, 4M = 140, 8M = 160.
Promo prices ar 2M = 120, 4M = 130, 8M = 140.

If Streamyx users get double speed upgrade then
current 2M user should get 4M at same current price
current 4M user should get 8M at same current price

If the user cannot be upgraded to a higher package, I think they will remain at their current speed and get a RM10 or RM20 discount to match the promo prices.

If there is a new Unifi-10M package, chances are the price will be RM149 because that is what the old Unifi 5M (upgraded to 10M) are paying. This also is in line with the Streamyx 8M which may be at RM140 as above.

Since not all Streamyx user areas are covered by Unifi, my guess is that the 100K users mentioned who are eligible are those Streamyx users whose areas are now or will be covered by Unifi in the next few months. Plus counting those Streamyx users who haven't switched to Unifi so far even though their area already got Unifi previously.

That is not a free upgrade. That is asking you to switch to a new package voluntarily if available and paying a new price. This is just my guess.

Can anyone who got the below upgrade please clarify for me.

1. VIP5 user (RM149) got upgraded to 10M for free a few months ago.
- Was contract renewed?
- Was free voice call plan removed?

2. VIP5 user (RM149) was offered 10M for additional RM10 (become RM159) recently and would get a free upgrade to 30M later.
- Was contract rnewed?
- Will free voice call plan be removed after getting 30M later?

You are right.
My insiders confirms it.
That why the brochure doesn't mention 'free speed upgrade', but merely 'speed upgrade' + 'voluntarily'.
Heck, new promotors are being briefed about not to mention the word 'free speed upgrade', but use only wording 'speed upgrade' if interested customers are subscribing now and someone will contact you (the customer) for 'speed upgrade' on later date.
However, TM hasn't decided on price yet for so called unifi lite 10Mbps. (the only consolation for dsl subscribers)
*
The new Unifi-10 (or whatever its called) cannot be more than RM159 as there are users paying that for 30M. It should be RM149 to match what old VIP5 users paying now for 10M after upgrade. However, I am hoping that it may even be less because it may be a package without free voice calls which old VIP5 has. Then it may be something like RM139 or RM129. This would probably get most Streamyx users to switch (if available) as their 2/4/8M is around that price range anyway. Also TM probably needs the lower package at lower price to compete with Maxis which has a RM139 for 10M package.

VIP5 and Streamyx subscribers are in the same category "voluntary" upgrade to VIP10.
Do you mean that these subscribers have to pay for the upgrade to VIP10?
If that is the case, VIP5 subscribers are being shortchanged.
*
I think some VIP5 got free upgrade to 10M some months back, so no problem.
Some got offer to go to 10M then 30M recently, so no problem.
Those left still at 5M are supposed to get 10M anyway. Maybe you just have to request the switch.

If the new 10M package is at RM149, then old VIP5 pays nothing extra. However, if the new 10M is at RM139/129, then you have to volunteer to switch. Maybe if it is at lower price, there may not be free local calls like old VIP5. So they cannot simply switch you as you may not want to lose free voice call plan. Those who don't mind can switch.

Just guessing again...

1. no contract renewal / free voice maintain.
2. vip 5 to vip 10 no additional payment. vip 10 to adv 30 upgrade with additional rm10/ contract renew for 24months/no more free voice call.
*
Thanks for that. So it does look like they have a base price of RM159 for 30M. This could mean that later this year there will be a 30M package for RM179 with some add-on which RM159 does not have now.

Looks like after the upgrade,
VIP10 - RM149
Advance30 - RM159
Advance50 - RM179
Advance Pro100 - ???

Streamyx packages not sure.
*
This was my guess from post #642.

Looking at the different upgrades and offers, my guess is the base prices may be something like
30M = 159-179
50M = 179-199
100M = 229-249

It will depend on if there are add-ons or not.

In which case:
10M = 139-159

Honestly, I feel the speed upgrade promotion is a marketing gimmick trying to get as much people registered as possible. It does not make sense to maintain so many separate packages with different pricing and speed, especially since they revamp the UniFi from the VIP (3) to Advance (2).
*
This is what I think too and mentioned in an earlier post. This promo is to sign up new users and also shift old user to higher priced package with the offer. They need users to pay a higher monthly fee overall. After all, if it is true that in 2 years time there will be a price reduction, they need a higher price now so that they don't lose that much later on. If prices are lower now, then it will be even lower later and they will lose a lot.

I think all this started before the budget, not because of the budget. When they removed the VIP packages and made the entry level package at 30M. Though I do not have actual figures, my guess is that most users were on VIP5 initially. Getting most of them to move to RM179/199 meant increase in monthly revenue.

Also, if it is true that there will be a lower Unifi-10 package later, then they have to make sure as many users as possible move to higher packages before it is introduced. Otherwise many users may want the lower packages if their usage is not that great. What better way than to have promos as all of us seems to always jump into such offers and promos whether we actually need it or not. So afraid of losing out...

I still think later on package prices cannot be too far away from these promo prices as these promo prices seems to be a baseline price for them. Or at least sometime later on, they will again have similar promos.

I also think there really needs to be a lower entry level package, like a 10M. When current packages are 30 / 50 / 100, then 30M seems like a high entry point. Meaning if you have such packages as 200 / 500 / 1G, then you can say 30 or 50M is an entry level. But when your highest is 100M, then an entry level should be more like 10 or 20M.

Just opinions, I guess we'll soon find out more in some weeks/months...

Well, good for my RM179 30Mbps Unifi.

Now then, how about my RM88 4Mbps Streamyx?
I believe all 1.4million streamyx subscribers would like TM to post FAQ on this particular question :

I am an exisiting STREAMYX customer, am I entitled for this Free Speed Upgrade?
Saya adalah pelanggan sedia ada STREAMYX, adakah saya dapat menikmati naik taraf kepantasan
secara percuma ini?

*
Well, I think they are busy catching Unifi users now for next couple of months. Streamyx users are not going anywhere. Think about it. Those Streamyx users who have Unifi coverage would have already switched. If no Unifi coverage, they cannot get Maxis. If in Maxis area, they would have got Maxis. If in Time area, they would have got Time. So mostly are on Streamyx either because not covered or they don't need higher packages. So they are not going anywhere.No hrry to catch them. Can wait till Jun.

If there are really 1.4Million Streamyx users, why only 100K mentioned? As I said before, must be those they can catch and convert to Unifi I guess. Or its some VDSL technology in a few areas where Unifi is not covered so Streamyx users can get higher speeds.

streamyx customers confirm will not get any kind of speed upgrade as based on the earlier announcement from TM, they already said that existing streamyx users will be offered a new package. the new package from the earlier summary picture i had shared, they will get a offer to upgrade to a new unifi 10Mbps package at new pricing but obviously this is not going to benefit all existing streamyx users but selected one which I guess it is referring to the existing streamyx customers who have unifi coverage at their area but they have yet to upgrade to unifi or those existing streamyx users who will have unifi coverage soon at their areas.
*
The picture showing the 10M package just means that there will be such an option for Streamyx users who qualify and is voluntary. It does not automatically mean that all other Streamyx users will not get any upgrade or price adjustment. That is how I see it. I guess we'll see what happens later on.

hello forumers,

i got a call yesterday from TM for unifi upgrade. i am vip5 (rm149 monthly excluding GST) user who got the free upgrade to vip10 a couple of months ago. i was offered a total of 4 packages

1) upgrade to 30Mbps + jumbo movie package for additional RM10 a month
2) upgrade to 30Mbps initially and then free speed upgrade to 50Mbps, choice of aneka/varnam/ruby for extra rm20 a month
3) upgrade to 50Mbps immediately (not sure movie package) for extra rm60
4) upgrade to 50Mbps now and free upgrade to 100Mbps later, RM70 extra

i believe all packages are without free calls. NO contract (just maintain current contract if still have). im out of contract long ago so i can terminate anytime i want.

i was also told that vip5 users who got free upgrade to 10Mbps will not receive further free upgrades. i spent a day researching ( i asked her to call me back today) and finally opted for package upgrade no2. i wonder when the free 50Mbps upgrade will be rolled out.
*
I didn't know they give so many upgrade offer choices to users. You must be special? Or they must really want to move lower paying user to higher paying packages?

No 2 and 4 sounds like the current promo, but you get it at RM10 less than others? RM169 for 50M and RM219 for 100M when free upgrade is done. Wonder what the difference between your package and the current promo for the RM10 difference? If no difference, surely users who take up the promo are going to start complaining?

If its true that there will be a 200M package, it could be at the same price as current 100M RM329. Because it looks like a fair progression:
RM179 = 50M
RM229 = 100M
RM329 = 200M

If its true only 100M users get the thank you surprise mentioned, ie HyppTV etc, maybe its until 200M is ready later this year then only will get free upgrade? Maybe thats why they say HyppTV free for 1 year. Otherwise, what happens after that?

I just guessing only...
