Is 50mbps speed really important now ? Most ppl say 30mbps is more than enough for daily usage.
*
For me..ya i agreed. Before this use VIP5 feels quite enough already & now use 30Mbps sure feels more than enough for my usage. 50Mbps & above might be overkill for me. Anyway..i sure grab the double speed offer..hehe thumbup.gif

I could feel the lag when I used 5Mbps in 2014, even when watching full HD shows on YouTube. When I first applied for UniFi, my intention was to get VIP10 but I know TM will call me in few months time for cheaper upgrade, so I tahan. laugh.gif I was right, in my 7th month of usage they called me to offer me VIP10 with RM 20 discount. Then upgraded to 30Mbps again during its soft launch last year. I have been paying the same amount as my VIP10 since then for Advance 30, why not? Now free upgrade lagi, saya takkan say no. laugh.gif No such thing as overkill for me. laugh.gif
*
Hahaha..since that it is a free upgrade..overkill pun overkilllah..surely will never say no to any free upgrade laugh.gif

min is 100 Mbps 30/50 is way too less. poorpeople at US are using at least 50
*
Yalor..how i wish TIME fiber available at my housing area..haihh. If TIME available, add another RM10 per month, will get 300Mbps instead of 30Mbps..10x the speed brows.gif . But since that i'm living at Alor Setar, probably i just day dreaming about it for now.. sweat.gif

even my area just recently came with 30 Mbps, i'm stuck with 1 Mbps more than 10 years.
*
Me last time also stuck with internet dial-up 1515 for years..then Streamyx 1Mbps..then Streamyx 8Mbps before Unifi finally available early this year at my area..fuhh. My IP cameras now working flawlessly due to high upload speed of Unifi thumbup.gif

I seen people say can use current telephone line to switch over to the Voip line.

You have to ask. last time I tried online dont have option. Infact I call over phone to request also cannot get it.

But still, I suggest if important. Call untill you find one CSR that can do it. Some times those CSR .... bangwall.gif  bangwall.gif  bangwall.gif
Meaning your unifi phone line- phone number is exactly your previous old number.
*
When subscribing to Unifi last time, i've asked over the counter whether i can use back my old landline phone number instead of using the new unifi VoIP phone number, the TM counter personnel said "cannot".. sweat.gif Whether truly cannot do that or that personnel is lazy to do that by saying "cannot"..i'm not sure

Really cannot, so if ur unifi comes with free calls, u must use the new unifi no to call. But u can opt to keep ur existing copper telephone line no by paying rm1 per mth to maintain the number but calls are charged on per use basis.
*
QUOTE(badai @ Dec 20 2016, 06:26 PM)
cannot because landline do not have "MNP" like mobile. they have to stick to "range". different services/area got different "range". "range" is the number between area code and last four digit.
*
Good info..tq2. By the way, i already terminated my old landline phone service & now use unlimited call package on mobile phone thumbup.gif

Finally got unifi construction ongoing in my area. Based on past experience, how long does it take from setting the place up to actually be able to subscribe?
*
From my observation, when the fiber line finally reach at your housing area (construction)..it took about 1 month+ before you can subscribe. At my housing area last time, i saw the TM construction (for UniFi) at the end of February, then by the middle off April the UniFi subscription opened...

I tried all the options, but still, it didn't work.  cry.gif

Try use USB wifi adapter on your laptop. If the wifi connected successfully using the adapter, then i believe your internal wireless network adapter might be the culprit (whether its driver or the hardware itself).

If your laptop can connect to other wifi but not to your home wifi only (Unifi) , try changing the wifi channel on your router

They've followed up and called me. Still getting less than the minimum 24mbps I'm supposed to.
*
Try changing the server manually then run the speedtest again. Sometime the server auto-select function chose the one that under-performed. It did happen to me last time. It's hard to reach even 20Mbps on my Advance 30 Unifi (when the speedtester auto-select the server). When i change to another server manually, preferably the one hosted by Telekom Malaysia, the speed suddenly pull-up to the max

Guys can any of you limit the speed for Guest Network in Archer C5? I already setup the ingress download tu 1024 kbps but when i tested i still have 100% of my speed which is 30mbps. [attachmentid=8377138]
*
It happen to me also (maybe all). It's firmware bug i believe. The router able to limit the upload speed but not the download speed. I already forwarded this issue to TP-Link technical person by email few days ago. He said will do some lab test & will give feedback to me later.

Anyway, for the time being, i managed to limit the speed (for guest) using other method (creating Bandwidth Control Rule)..but need a bit extra effort thumbsup.gif

and need to invest in a good router for that sort of speed.  RM1000 at least from what i read  bye.gif  bye.gif

A mid-level router should suffice i believe..in term of cost maybe around RM400-RM700

streamyx days router only costs RM100-200
*
Yalorr..using low-end router for Streamyx will do . But on Unifi..low end router might suffer to cope with the demand

Anyway i think 100mbps is fine enough, maybe not for future but for now is plenty fine  laugh.gif

Early this year used VIP5 already feels just enough for my daily usage. Now on Advance 30, actually more than enough to mostly let my kids watching youtube simultaneously on 3 devices. I can just imagine if 100Mbps..might be overkill for me laugh.gif

Which model is suitable for UniFI?

I am looking with USB port so I can attach my USB 3.0 external HDD as the backup device to backup all Notebooks' files.
*
TP-Link Archer C9 should be fine. Last time (during Streamyx days) i've used Archer D9 instead & satisfied with its performance. So for Unifi, Archer C9 should suffice i believe nod.gif
