Finally the contractor will be coming to install next week

If I wish to run the fiber optic cable above the ceiling in a double story house, is that consider non standard installation?

I hope at the least they can do that, even if they will charge. Don't want to install the modem at my kitchen sweat.gif

Regarding the Unifi account password, can we change ourself after installation, or have to set when the technician is setting up?

You mean the long password that used to login to UniFi account, used for router settings?
I thought that can't be changed? unsure.gif

I meant the UniFi service password, we cannot change it. In case, we forgot we will call TM to retrieve it. However, if using stock router can easily retrieve it. I have kept one well and can be retrieved anytime if I change router.

OCC UniFi password can easily change at OCC.

Ah, thanks

I was referring to that password for the service. I guess no security concern if not change the default password. unsure.gif

Need some help here.

After installation, I receive 2 emails. One is login info for the online portal account, which works.
Another email is for HyppTV Everywhere. It provide the username and password, but I am unable to log into the hypptv page using the info. It keep prompting me for username and password.

Anything I am missing here?

The link I use is https://www.tm.com.my/hypptv/Pages/Home.aspx
I'm guessing that is the correct page

In HyppTV, is there a quick way to see what channel is available to me?
Instead of trying one by one sweat.gif

Thanks guys

For some reason HyppTV is not stable when used through Homeplug. The channels randomly cannot work. But everything working fine if directly plug through LAN port doh.gif

For some reason I cannot use Powerplug for my HyppTV. So now I'm trying to use the spare wifi router I have from TM. Basically I connected the spare router to my LAN4 on the main router (which confirm Hypptv can work if connect directly).

Now in my Hypptv box, I see I have the IP address 10.59.30.xxx, which I guess is the Hypptv service one? Somehow Hypptv is not working, so I guess I set something wrong.
No video is showing, just a blue satellite icon with a x. I can open the Hypptv app without error though

Anyone knows if got any special setting I need to do in the router, or the Hypptv setting?

Try to search online, but only found the guide to set VLAN for wireless. Can't find any example of someone using a wifi router as access point for hypptv

QUOTE(norman05051984 @ Jan 4 2017, 12:11 PM)
i just ordered unifi today via internet. So im scheduling the installation to come on Friday.

So right now i noticed my house have 2 wall sockets for phone and internet. 1 at living room and 1 at family area at second floor. At the moment, i have 1 used ASUS modem lying around. (my boss gave it to me for free, he bought a new ASUS modem RM1k++) Question is:

1. Can i use 2 modems for my internet line? Thinking of one (TM provided) to be placed at living hall (together with hypptv)  and one ASUS at the second floor. Because i think single modem will not be able to cover my whole house because of blind spot etc.

2. Can i ask the contractor to set it up my modems for me for free?

3. Can it be done with 2 modems or I need to resort with TM modem only? Or is it best for the contractor to set up ASUS modem instead of TM modem?

Sorry for noob question

For landed homes, Unifi is using fiber optic cables, no longer use the telephone line.

TM will provide 1 fiber optic modem, which is different from the Streamyx modem

500Mbps drool.gif drool.gif

For now 30Mbps is all I can afford monthly sweat.gif
I can see use for speed above 100Mbps if streaming 4k becomes the norm where one home may have few people streaming 4k content.

Hopefully those 3 digit packages will be affordable by the time that happens.
