question: when i try to ask if the terminal support samsung pay, they said their terminal only support with pin type..if we use samsung pay, still can key in the pin?
*
Answer for your question: It depends on the prompt on the card terminal, you may sign or enter your PIN.

They gave you that answer because the cashier or whoever behind the counter also don't know much about the credit card terminal themselves, as far as I know, I have never seen chip only card terminals in Malaysia as they always have the swipe slot by the side.

If the card terminal is not contactless enabled then just hold your phone very near the swipe slot for Samsung Pay to work and when you look at the sales draft it may indicate that it's a "Swipe" transaction as oppose to "Chip" or "Contactless".

My first time went into a McD @ Pdn. Mewah using S3 without the digital signature set on the card. So it doesn't require anything just tap and good to go.

Then the 2nd time which I had set the digital signature on the cc, when I tap at the same place. It required me for the digital signature

The question is, if I remove the digital signature. Will it remove the step to sign during purchase?
*
It does not work the way that you mentioned, of all the cards that I have registered on Samsung Pay on my S7 none of them have I signed for on the digital signature. The use of the Digital Signature is for cashiers to verify the signature when the sales draft prompts for a signature, which in Malaysia almost no cashier checks the signature.

The conditions of signature required are:

1) Most transactions performed via MST. (this is the only condition)

Don't get me wrong.
It won't work with readers where you need to physically insert your card into a slot such as those found at gas stations and on ATMs.

Not sure at BHP as some petrol kiosk equip with NFC(PayWave/PayPass).
Anyone can confirm this?

Thanks.
*
I have not tried using Samsung Pay at BHP PayPass enabled pumps because all the cards I have are Visa, but I have tried using Samsung Pay at pump but they always fail. What I do is that I use my driving license to trigger the card reading switch, I done it at Caltex, Petron and Petronas all failed. The pumps do read my card especially Caltex where is the transaction fails it will print out a receipt and my receipt said "Swipe method" which means it read the Samsung Pay MST but cannot authenticate.

So Samsung Pay doesn't work at the pump itself right?
*
Short answer is, No. BHP with Mastercard PayPass is an exception.

Hi...why did all myNEWS shops stop accepting Spay?
*
From my perspective I would say those that stop accepting Samsung Pay are stupid. Its people or corporations like these that Malaysia can't advance in the field of technologies.

I suspect that Citibank has the highest rate of "Do Not Honor" for both NFC and MST, it's like it will allow you to perform the transaction today and will fail tomorrow at the same shop.

Went to Starling mall

Guardian, Watson, Caring, Jaya Grocer worked flawlessly.

Juice works - abit slow(10s) but no problems. No minimum amount.
Popular - 1 minute for the transaction to go through but otherwise okay. RM10 minimum.
BookXcess - no minimum CC amount but completely refused samsung pay despite a lengthy explanation.

MBG here is also RM30 min.

BHP - MasterCard only terminal so I went to the counter to pay (only Visa). No problems,  minimum RM30

What is MBG? "Money Back Guarantee"? "My Baby Girl"? "Movie based game"? "Merchant Banking Group"?

Just sharing this, as most of my MST transactions ended up with signature required at the end but there was once that I have to enter my PIN and sign (double verification) at Caltex when buying fuel. My special experiences apart from mine?

Thanks for explaining. I never tried more than 250 too and i also want to know about the terminals that requires cards to be slotted in.

Btw 2 days ago i used spay with my gear s3 at cold storage with no issue. Few hours later i tried at jaya grocer and got "do not honor". Tried twice no success. Then just now i tried to use at mcd also got "do not honor" twice. Donno what's wrong. Restart my watch but haven't tried spay yet.
*
Do Not Honor means it's the banks problem, not the watch. Every time this pops up it really frustrates me and we follow the rules by not going over RM 250 and it still shows this.

Why not? Public Bank terminals are my favorite as it will say No Signature Required and No PIN required even with MST.

Bought mineral water at guardian (really thirsty), the cashier told me minimum purchase is rm30. Then I told him about the BNM says no minimum, baru he allowed me to purchase using spay. Btw, I can't find the article to show if he really wants proof😅 any references?
*
Citation from The Sun Daily Malaysia: “On merchants who require a minimum purchase amount before a customer can pay with a credit card or those who impose a surcharge, Tan said consumers can lodge a complaint with BNM.”

Tonight bought more than RM250 (4 transaction) with my RHB debit card. The last one was the biggest amount around RM180. Not sure if they will block tomorrow. Think I will go pump RM1 petrol just to be safe.
*
I am surprised that you're willing to let the petrol station hold RM 200 from your account just to use Samsung Pay? I love Samsung Pay but not enough to do that.

Use credit card also lock, debit card also same. Not sure if there's any reason to complain. Not like they will cheat you or the RM200 will earn you lots of interest. Don't be too kiasu man.
*
Everyone has their own beliefs, but I would still say that you're "super rich"

One forumer already said internet problem you won't get points. Anyway it felt like curse as I also kena just now. Went to Tesco Selayang and bought some 100 plus. Got points. Then repeat it but feel weird to walk to the same counter. Thus I walked to the counter at the end and the internet probably bad there. End up didn't get any points for the 2nd purchase.

Now I know which to avoid. Those underground one better avoid.
*
I thought Tesco has already launched self checkout? Or they're still expanding?

Can't add my card to Note FE as it said Registration Failed. Called the bank said no problem with them, ask me to call Samsung to verify the issue. I think there is a limit you can add the same card with Samsung phone. Like SPay tied with Samsung account, limit is 5 devices IINM, but easily remove the unused/sold phone that tied with our account. They will ask it at the first time we open the SPay. But cards seems can't. Straight away tell you Registration Failed.
*
The card you're trying to add is issued by what bank?

Talking about magnetic swipe, some chinese restaurants don't accept spay as need to swipe the physical card first in their system before insert into terminal for payment. Eg Starling mall Nam Heong & Atria mall Yin Ker Lou.
*
Can you provide me with the banks name that both of those restaurants use for their card terminals? I want to lodge a report to Bank Negara.

Bank Negara director of payment policy department Mr Tan Nyat Chuan said that: " it was a violation of payment card rules for merchants to double swipe the cards during a transaction as it might increase risk of fraudulence and information leak." published on The Star Online, Paragraph 16

Mr. Tan also said that “If you see merchants doing this you should report to the bank and they will take action via the rules. What the merchants need to do is to find a way to integrate the point of sales transaction with the cash register so they no longer have to do dipping and double swiping to match those transactions to facilitate reconciliation,” said Tan during the press conference after the roadshow. published on The Star Online ,Paragraph 18

Did the sales draft have a blank space for signature or was "No Signature Required" printed there?
