i think the Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II is the best lense for the price i paid.
In addition as scotty said, different league. You might want to try it out before you buy it.
Of course, it also depends on wat you plan to shoot with the lense and wat result ur expecting.
Tamron AF 17-50mm f2.8 / Canon 50mm f1.8 II, Do I still need to buy the 50mm Prime???
