I think your laptop canot handle cinnamon 64bit. Try with linux mint xfce 32 bit or 32 bit MX linux or AntiX.

Yet to identify the actual problem.

My laptop capable of running Linux mint 18 cinnamon 64 bit via VMware player, the boot was amazingly fast.

But, Everytime i tried live boot using USB/UNetbootin, it will always take ~15 minutes on the bootup process itself.

it could still be that your hdd is going to die (had that before with my old setup). S.M.A.R.T returning okay doesn't really mean that your hdd is okay. btw, did you performed any bios updates recently? if not then its likely to be hdd

Can you try different partitioning (standard instead of LVM perhaps?) or maybe even different type of file system?

Managed to install mint 18 cinnamon using compatibility mode.

Then i installed boot repair, after that I'm able to boot normally into mint/win10.

Mint boot duration now looks ok.

 

Change to:
| Lo-Fi Version
0.0123sec    0.48    5 queries    GZIP Disabled
