QUOTE(AVFAN @ Feb 23 2017, 06:38 PM)
Like i have said umpteen times...

WHAT is there to strengthen it?

BNM? Exports? Tourism? Fdi? Money coming back? Syok sendiri?

No, no... only more more scandals, more coverups, more debts, more money leaving, desperate troopers mouth foaming.

Alas, the world is not as stupid as they think.

And thats exactly what exchange rate is about - what the rest of the world think yr currency is worth.
*
What the rest of the world think your currency is worth. Damn bud, that's cruel man.

I understand the situation maybe dire right. Ow, but would there be a shimmer of hope?

Guys, what your view on this?

Means RM gonna drop further?

For the time being, I think we can only say that it is volatile.

Can't really predict currency going up or down, bruh. Or else all of us will be rich. 🤣

People on Reddit told not to worry about it. They say Malaysian food is still better, will have good business.  sweat.gif
Yeah exactly... a weak currency is good for exports in general, but also sucks for travelling.
Also I'm pretty sure JB imports treated water from Singapore.

Aha! Always knew there are Redditors lurking around.

Some rumours I heard,... may not be solid,... but sometimes, such rumours turn out to be true !

Sweet. Quote Hans Landa:

It's probably just temporary, news sources says that it will appreciate sometime in Q2.

That's what all local news said. It's temporarily only. Have it appreciated back to 4.3/4.2? They have been saying it's temporarily for like forever. Fundamental is strong, ringgit not reflecting it's real price.
*
You mean MY's fundamental is strong...or it is slated to drop further? While I applaud for SGD's appreciation, but I'm still skeptical that MYR will stay this way forever.

Thoughts anyone?

If fundamental is strong, why have MYR been depreciating againsy the SGD for 30+ years? devil.gif
If fundamental is strong, it won't be the worst performaner among asian counterparts.
A decreasing foreign reserve + high debts + same old "stuff" doesn't show fundamental is strong. We can compare malaysian foreign reserves with our neighbours. No need to compare vs SG. Let's compare with Thailand and indon. Just look at the chart from this 2 article.

QUOTE(Hansel @ Apr 17 2017, 07:06 PM)
Bro,.. everything takes time,... if everyone jumps together into the bandwagon, perhaps we will be the ones who are left behind then. Unker Dreamer can shout all he wanted, but the effect needs time to trickle down to us,...

On his personal side, I believed he lost quite some money to some parties in Msia,... that's why he was so sore abt Msia,... he forgot that at the end of the day, he was born in Msia, and this is something that none of us can choose the direction of. Msia would have done him good too in some way, well,... I never forgot that,... but that's me-lar,....

Wherever we are, we must learn to swim among the waves, and to make the best out of everything. For myself,... I don't deny that I made a lot of money too from the ignorance, the fear and the under-knowledge of many Malaysians. If Msians are like Aussies or Sinkies, perhaps not so easy to charge them so high,...

Then from whatever I made, I sent the funds out,... if the Msian Gov't is like the Chinese Gov't or the US Gov't, I don't think I would be able to move so freely, right ? So,... it's good too that our pegawai are,... er,,... slow,...

Look at the 'good side' of things always,... not only the bad side ! But have precautions against the bad side,... like if you don't trust that our authorities can do their enforcement jobs well enough, don't commit your funds here in Msia,... study hard, go invest outside.

Our kerajaan is NOT stopping you,... our current top man is very 'open',... if you don't move, and another top man comes along and he happens to be like the Chinese Gov't, then you only have yourself to blame.

I think,... Unker Dreamer missed many of my points in the above,... he was bitter,...

And,... do you all really think it's so good overseas ??  biggrin.gif .......overseas has its own set of problems,... it's not heaven,... heaven is to those who have knowledge.
*
Whoa...that's pretty interesting speculation you have there for dreamer. I apologize if this deviated from this thread topic, but what made you think so?

u shud already know...

becos of the weightage on the items in the cpi basket.

official 5.1% is for rural/villages.

urban/suburban, need to X 2.5 or 3 to get the real life picture.
*
I totally forgot about the CPI basket. No wond r the inflation numbers never seems to be accurate.

It is a bit unrealistic if you ask me.

It's temporary only. You want to give it a break, convert whatever foreign currency you need.

Opportunity like this doesn't come often.
*
Against SGD, it's like 5 cents in the past 1 week. That's pretty impressive, and yes, I would have to agree with you to switch the f out to other currencies.

Jeebus, I'm beginning to think a huge lot of us are not exactly rooting for MYR. 🤣

Should be 4 by now according to experts

I think SG and MY economy/currency are intertwine. I mean, SGD shouldn't blow past 4 bucks. That's ludicrous.

me too, a weaker RM will be good for me too. Half of my money generated is in SGD.

Please Please Please RM don't bounce up too fast

Erm...kinda contradict what we all are hoping for.

As a Malaysian bloke working in SG, I share the same feelings.

But then again, we need to have faith that malaysia will be great again!

Suddenly it's 4.15!

I got reports from my colleague that Cimb Sg has suspended the SGD to MYR transfer.

Even the rate in InstaReM has suspended at 3.04XX.

Is it because of the recent news of Norway dropping MY bonds?
