Looking back, there are way more P-bandai release this year compared to normal releases.

Nope this is an Hollywood movie. However Sunrise studio will also involved in production including designing mobile suit.

Ever since Legendary Entertainment was acquired by Wanda China in 2016, most of their productions were disastrous.

Just look at the movies made by them after the acquisition: - Warcraft the Movie was terrible and shadowed the essence of the original story. Great Wall, Kong: Skull Island was just plain horrible. Pacific Rim Uprising looked more like a B Class movie that should have been ported directly to DVD or Blue Ray.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom stayed afloat due to China market, where the company garnered most of their revenue from.

Then again, as the curse goes: - any anime made into live action (save and except for Rurouni Kenshin) had bombed at the box office. So nope, I have zero expectation on the live action adaptation of Gundam.

Probably will become like another Transformer franchise... i don have much hope for it...I am already content with just seeing gundam on screen for a minute in Player One Ready .

Who cares about that? This topic was bring out because of merchandise from that movie. The possibility of Gunpla releases.
Sunrise gonna contribute the mobile suit designs. Its not going to be like Bayformers design.

thats the whole point of gundam bro...

Merchandise saved Gundam franchise.
Gundam anime back in 1979 was about to get cancelled but Gundam toys sales saved them.

The movie itself is not for charity. It also need to get sell well. So what's wrong with making merchandise?
Personally I care less with the movie but more into the gunpla kit they will make.
If design something like MG Storm Bringer that would be cool(had zero interest with the Build Divers manga as well)

Yes, Gundam build series is basically a 25 minutes advertisement.

Even transformers cartoon (generation 1) are made to sell toys.

Most western cartoon failed when they can't sell toys.
