Meh...what's the point of having inner frame for SD
*
-Improve articulations. Old SD rely on body design and polycaps for articulations which is sucks.
-Kitbash/customize SD made easier since they use universal inner frame. Armor can also easier to change.
-As you can see they can change SD proportion as two type. Standard or tall.
-Inner frame is not just their gimmick. More will come out soon.

Hmn... articulations I'm SD is kinda pointless but I get what you mean by kitbash

Lot of old SDs in the past dont even have elbow articulation. But this one the tall frame seem to have elbow joint similar to HG kit. Having inner frame mean the hip joint can be 360 degree rotate similar to newest HG, MG, and RG. Not mention the torso can move better. The posing ability is similar to NXEDGE STYLE, having cute proportion while can pose well.

So, meaning if I want the CS frame, I'll need to buy the normal SD version, then additionally buy another CS frame?
*
Only the short (SD) frame included if you buy the standard kit.
The tall (CS) frame is included in full set kit for 1500yen or buy an add on CS frame White for 600yen(seem to also included GM head).

Also the new SD part separation is real deal.

hey guys. It's quite a bore to use a normal action base stand.

Anyone here know which good website/channels that I can refer building DIY diorama stuff? What kind of paint etc. Want to start learning.

Something like this as reference:

Buy Kotobukiya M.S.G Diorama Chain Base
Got city, desert and moon surface scenery.
Review:

There are also 1-10 hangar base, you can expand those to make bigger space. The main problem is Kotobukiya discontinued these items so you have to look on aftermarket, like ebay :/

Actually top coat does help prevent scratch. My kit after finish paint I forgot to top coat and after fiddling the kit for a while got some minor scratch on it.

Also cut your finger nail. It is more likely scratch on surface

well without those extra accessory i think is justify with a chrome V fin. Still i think Bandai is milking fan out of variable unicorn . So next release P bandai again with Armed Armor DE on unicorn become ver  Bande Dessinee ?
*
Unfortunately Bandai already make that. The armed armor DE add-on bundled with manga volume IIRC

For today news, today is 30th years of CCA anniversary.

yeah that true however they did it to sinanju bazooka launcher and then they came out another version with bazooka included too.  laugh.gif
*
Forgot about that. But Sinanju included bazooka is OVA version. He does use that in anime too. Unlike armed armor DE which Unicorn Bande Dessinee only use. I doubt we ever get Bande Dessinee promoted in MG again.

HG all the way. I rather see my display cupboard with 100++ various mobile suits in HG than 2-10 mainstream mobile suit you are already bored with it in RG,MG,PG which is lack of variations.

This came from person who only collect only MGs in 1st year of gunpla hobby 9 years ago.

Though P-Bandai now makes me stop collect niche mobile suits

haha most reason i collect MG becos to stay away all those variations which end up giving more bigger hole in the wallet.  Otherwise Resin kit conversion all the way  if you want variations. biggrin.gif
*
But HG is cheap as low as Rm30 which is no problem to me. Already survey resin kit market, most conversion resin kit are just a detailed version of existing kit, e.g. MG Strike Freedom. B-Club is out of reach and never make new release anymore. Been eyeing RG conversion kit GP00 Blossom but rather wait in HG or RE100

I can't really bring myself to like scale of HG and RG (except for big kits like kshatriya).
*
It is not about size. It is the value of the kit.
Big isnt always better. See the old NG kits.
The palm size means you can display it everywhere including on office table. More flexible to play and good for photography shot. Smaller kit good for macro shot.

Belum cuba belum tahu.
Just focus on newest HG or go into RG line. Its improved so much like MG already.

I understand that it could be cheaper, better value but I have this preference on MG scale. I don't know why though. I think PG is too big and HG/RG being too small.

It's just a preference thing. But I might try switching when it became stale... currently venturing in to 1/100 Reborn... gonna see how it's like..

*

I dont know why people keep think big is better. Maybe they already see the goodness of MG and no longer look back at other grade such as HG. Used to think that way too so the 1st gunpla kit I bought is the MG and broke it sad.gif

In my case I dont exclusively collect in certain grade/scale because I equally like all of them. The interest keep grow over time (for example I dont really like grunt units when I was beginner but now I collect them more like Gundam units)

QUOTE(GameFr3ak @ Mar 14 2018, 02:56 PM)
BTW, are older kits like Zaku II Johnny Ridden weaker in terms of plastic quality? I've did 2 MG (red frame bandai and strike noir (DM)), the dragon momoko was the first kit I've ever painted with a lot of mistakes. But it didn't really break or anything when I was putting the kits back together.

The plastic of the zaku seems very weak (post paint). Did the paint made it a lot weaker? I've so far broken 3 parts already.
*
It is not because it is old plastic. ABS plastic is known weaker to lacquer based paint. So Bandai often recommend acrylic based paint for painting instead.

Avoid paint inner frame with lacquer based paint and you will fine.

Haha yeah HG is cheap compare to mg but recently most HG now a round rm 80 above and with lot of variable to collect become more expensive than 1 MG or PG however mostly I go mg because I do modification otherwise HG kinda great scale to save space.
My recent work wip
*
HG kits priced RM80 seem to be at good price if big or got many things inside. For example HG Thunderbolts line.
The basic GM style bundle one is priced at RM30-60 only.

----------------
Btw PG Astray Red Frame Kai preorder opens at Crux @Rm950. Seem good price(was expecting Rm1k above)

personal preference.

and depending your display style.

if all cramped in a detolf it will look untidy & messy and really see nothing unless you go in closer.

if put 1 or 2 on table, then better.
*
That was analogy anyway. I dont have like 100 units HG to display in single shelf. My actual display is only 10 unit HG mixed with display scale cars and tanks. Some Nendoroid figure and toys inside too. But I would do that if I buy 2-3 Ikea detolf. Standard Katoki style standing pose only. No Action Base inside so no cramped style display but multiple glass detolf with enough room for HGs to stand.

As I said in previous post, HG is portable size. You can put it anywhere including office table. Not only in glass detolf

QUOTE(GameFr3ak @ Mar 16 2018, 03:34 PM)
Yeah. This is another one of my preference as well. I can't really bring myself to stuff my cabinet full of kits. It's just not my taste and I find it really messy.

Displaying a few kits that I made sure I like and put effort in is what I'm trying to build up at the moment. Though I only have 3-4 kits now but I can't imagine crowding the entire cabinet full of gunplas....

This gives me nightmare but understandably some would like this.

It is a sign of hobby passion. There are similar collecting hobbies out there and they are not much different than gunpla. They collect and display too.

Dedicating a showcase display is better than just err showcase boxes of unbuilt kits...

You might find this messy but this kind of display that attract people more to look into it. Heck gunpla shop would be boring if got nothing to showcase similar to this.

Even toy shops don't cramp. Gamer's arena's display is very sparse.

So are most hobby shops.

Only ones that are cramp are probably those shops in Amcorp mall because they need to display their products for potential buyers to see and most aren't model kits.

I think only IT Toy have alot of display but they don't feel cramp due to the cabinet size & shop size being very big.

Usually Indie shops will have cramp display due to space limit, just like apartments.
*
Cramp or not, most consumers will likely come into the shop. Thats including me. Though the Sogo toys display made me cringey because gunpla like assembled by newbie.

I think you need to see more from out Malaysia, as most Malaysian gunpla shop dont really standing out.

found a review here.

despite all the details, it is still look kinda plain
perhaps this expensive kit not worthy for straight build, must custom paint a little to bring out the power
*
If you notice, Toriko didnt panel line and applied any marking sticker on the kit. If want to bring out nice appearance just need more decals and some shading on it.
