Hi, i have been using x treme gamer fatality pro for some time until yesterday i bought myself a new baby ,logitech z5500 to match my sound card, the problem is the sound card doesnt have optial or coaxial output except digital 3.5mm jack, so i have to custom made for the digital output to input of 3.5mm jack to rca jack, my control console can detect coaxial input, question is can i receive dolby digital/dts for this kind of input

definitely can....why custom made it? just bought 3.5mm to stereo RCA, and connect the left channel of RCA(usually white) as coaxial is done...

How come when i play movie i can see the z5500 lcd console not showing DD can only show pro logic 2

make sure your movie is DTS/DD format....

what player you used?

maybe you forgot to choose 'external decoder' in your Creative Console Launcher...

First thing its definately a dd format disc, secondly my creative console launcher dont have the external decoder system. Actually my sc is x treme gamer fatality pro, really i cant find the external decoder function, can explain more bro.

Both are the same, except the Fatal1ty have 64MB X-RAM for games, hence the sound quality is the same
Its Creative Audio Console, look like this:

I bet your OS is Vista....

if it is, you must use newest Vista driver, if not, the old one is the crippled function driver...
*
You are right my os is vista 64bit, my latest update for the driver if not mistaken july 08, is it new, anyway i am now down loading the console luncher driver, hopefully it works.

After installing the new console driver still no external decoder function, why like that, is it due to vista x64 problem.

nope....1 bad news to you...

go HERE, your card not support driver level DTS/Dolby decoder, thats why you wont find the decoder tab in your console....but don't worry, still not the end of world... icon_idea.gif

If your card is retail product (not OEM, full package), you must use the PowerDVD player software bundle in the package to play the DTS/Dolby via SPDIF....if not use the K-Lite codec media player classic with AC3 plugin, in the plugin select SPDIF passthrough...try first...

[attachmentid=671359]

tick the place that i circled... nod.gif

i critics the stupidity of Creative....

Done exactly what you said but still no result same mean can get the pro logic 2 not DD or DTS, any other means bro or should i go n buy the external i/o, i dont know is it necessary or is it the os x64 problem. TQ

huh....how come....no idea adi... sad.gif

have you try analogue output? see whether the card itself can decode DTS/Dolby or not?
*
When i use the analogue 6 channel effect i can have the DD effect but when using the 3.5 jack to rca for coaxial cant get the DD but can get PL2 what the heck or should i downgrade to xtreme gamer n use the optical cable so as i can get the DD effect.

coolkwc, can i buy the digital i/o module adaptor to connect to optical or coaxial so as to get the dd signal or is it really the os x64 problem or the stupid card driver problem. TQ

The digital I/O will most likely act same as rear SPDIF coaxial, at the end you still need to 'SPDIF pass through' before you can get the DD digital signal from the digital terminal, otherwise you will only get Creative 2ch uncompressed signal, which is stereo sound only....thats why your Z-5500 only detect ProLogic...

I use Vista 32 bit and XtremeMusic(can decode DD/DTS), so i have no idea whether is cause by 64bit OS or what...to clarify whether it's OS problem or Driver problem, i suggest you go try the card on PC running XP or Vista 32 bit, use the same method, see whether can output DD/DTS through digital or not...

Saw on creative web site , there is a beta driver can i try it, any problem so far, has anyone try it.

I think i give up the stupid decoder problem since cant really verify it, but no choice have to use only 6 direct channel, by the way how come whenever i switch off my z5500 n on later there is no memory setting , meaning each time i on the speaker the surround n volume setting set to zero not my last setting before off.

Hey guys, I used to download youp-pax and Daniel-K drivers but can't find them anymore. What drivers do you guys use these days? Care to share? smile.gif

Me too using Daniel K driver becos the driver i use from creative is having a lot of problem, after using Daniel K driver inever look back, simply becos no more bsod n the sound seem more clear n punchy. I got this driver from 3d guru site.
