im using x-fi also. mine is x-fi xtreme music.
as a former user of onboard realtek, i have to say that there are major improvements, especially in terms of clarity. its like an ear plug being remove from your ear. at least thats how i feel...

QUOTE(Najmods @ Mar 26 2007, 12:41 AM) You have a nice piece of speaker (the one I want to buy actually, but end up buying Klipsch Promedia GMX). Go treat yourself by buying X-Fi XtremeMusic (not XtremeAudio, its just rebadged Audigy SE) if you have the money. Out of all the basic x-fis, extrememusic is the best right? I'm contemplating a buy this week, is this a good time to buy or is there going to be a price drop over the horizon? IF guitar alone, the volume is fine. i hope u guys understand lol. i've tried every setting here n there but the result is still same.. last time when i use onboard audio n 2.1 speakers, ALL works great! i wanna testing n record my playing (for fun) but i can't becuz i can't hear my guitar when i play alongside backing trax. see what i mean? hope someone can help me.

Oh-oh...my X-Fi is acting bizzarre recently...or is it the speaker? Sometimes, when i start up my PC (WinXP), i'll get high-scrrech noise from my speakers/headphone. I'll have to go to the console and select the speakers/headphone and it'll be back to normal again... Could it be due to me connecting both the speaker and headphones simultaneously (using a Y splitter)? It's been working for 1 month+ fine until now though...Sometime whenever i on the speaker volume when startup...get heart attack by the sudden high pitch noise!!!
