why not you use Maybank2U for Farnell purchase?

Since you desolder/solder the opamp repeatedly, why not you just solder 3 different opamps in the board so that you can compare them directly...i plan to do so, at least 2 different opamps...
*
I don't have Maybank account unfortunately

Good idea, but since I bypass the muting on primary, its not fair that the other channel still have it. I'm planning to remove opamp on other channel leaving clean supply to front channel smile.gif

no, we no need to care about the pinout of those transistor...just solder the cable before those transistor and after SMD output resistor is done...

EDIT: OK, for those transistor in that surround channel, you will see N20+ printed on top...to bypass, just short the upper pin left and upper pin right... nod.gif

Alright thanks for the info, currently I have no intention of doing so

Weird, the LME49720 becomes more and more listenable now, Katie Melua never sounded this good before biggrin.gif I don't think I need to change the opamp again if this continue smile.gif

ROFL laugh.gif I don't believe burn in on transistor though. No the opamp is new one, I ditched the old one. I never use a used opamp unless its socketed

me as well...i just think that the sound better after 'burn-in' is just our ears more adapted to the 'new' sound over the time...

I guess so, makes me think its a waste to buy new opamp anyway. But at least I have some backup since my SOIC opamp has run out

Very weird, when at night LME49720 sounds good, while at day it was too sparkly to my tastes sweat.gif blink.gif

Hmm....this thread is dead again....still waiting for the opamp, but in the meantime I order yet another opamp brows.gif This one is ultra secret opamp tongue.gif laugh.gif rclxs0.gif Some say....this one is perfectly balanced sound signature, some say its too veiled. All in all, they all agree it have bass, a big one icon_idea.gif

maybe too much 'burn-in' tongue.gif how about take the output directly from opamp?
*
No, still no sound cry.gif

But I found the culprit, a small SMD resistor is loose, removed it and I directly connect to output without opamp with the wire. Surprisingly it sings well, and no sign of excessive DC offset. Very weird hmm.gif I hope it stays that way sweat.gif

Gosh, I though this card is a gonner for sure sweat.gif

you means now you bypass an opamp again?
*
Yup, and this time it worked well. No sign of excessive DC offset, I measure it it exactly the same as with opamp, around 190mV

Maybe you need to use another opamp place as front channel if you want to use opamp anymore...
*
Hmm, maybe....anyway I need to use the decoupling caps, the DC offset is too much. Found some good quality capacitor that is small enough brows.gif I still waiting for my opamp to arrive so I leave the space bare first ready for new one smile.gif

Anyone using Windows XP change to the new beta? I don't try it, never bother since the current one just fine with me smile.gif

Is there anything we can discuss other than modding? How about games? X-Fi is built from ground up for gaming, so we better talk its gaming performance. All the game I tested give very good result, even the game that doesn't support EAX like Crysis. On the game that supports it, its just amazing. Especially in F.E.A.R, even when enemy sneak up on me, I can listen to them before I can see them. Environment, ambient, different material sounds great too

Ermm, stay away from this beta, a lot of problems...

So far i haven't play any first person shooter game except testing the BattleField2...i will vomit if i play it... doh.gif i only play racing game, so the EAX not very useful to me...but i will look forward a piece of 8800GT a month later to play my favorite ColinMcrae:DiRT and RaceDriver GRID, this 2 got EAX5 HD engine brows.gif ...
*
Oh you are one of the people who get motion sickness in FPS. Luckily I don't. Only game that gives me a little headache is Medal of Honor: Airborne. The motion blur and weapon sway makes me a bit dizzy, but only for a few minutes

I wanted to try DIRT but I heard it got lots of bugs because its a port from console, same like SC:DA

i got DiRT in hand since it released, but no chance to play... doh.gif colinMcrae got a lot of bugs for last few series also, i play CMR2005 before by using this SC, even EAX4 HD very good adi... thumbup.gif
*
I see...I've played CMR before, but I don't remember which one I actually play tongue.gif With a steering wheel I get very far in the game, with just a keyboard it went nowhere smile.gif

With EAX Advance HD, even GTA: San Andreas sounds great. Before this when I uses SB Live!, whenever there is rain, the sound will drop and eventually one by one the sound from environment gone leaving only the radio in car functioning shakehead.gif With X-Fi, no such problem existed, and never in my life hearing so much sound at one time, even in rain, I can hear tire screech, plus people honking at me for driving like mad and sound of wind and ambient too at the same time thumbup.gif

With opamp everything is just in-your-face kind of experience, not the kinda thing that I like especially fo music listening, the soundstaging is very wide without opamp.

For me whet you describe is night and day, because you can clearly hear the difference, but well, one man's meat is another's poison. What speaker did you use with the X-Fi?

Nice find, coolkwc. But internal DAC is great for me

All my opamp has arrived today, tested it on other channel and do A/B test, I don't like them. I prefer no opamp

I have 9 opamp now, 5 of them are high quality. I don't know what to do with them. Don't ask me any because they not for sale tongue.gif

What I do now? Remove all the opamp and all the capacitor on opamp supply because its unneeded smile.gif

EDIT: Forget to add, I'll get Sanyo OS-CON 10uF 10V and 47uF Blackgate NX for free soon biggrin.gif

Oh, I guess I tell them anyway. The opamp I buy is LME49723 (super secret), slightly worser version of LME49720. Sounds rougher, maybe not burn in, but it still quite the same as LME49720. The other one is AD8066 (ultra secret), it was fast, and it was rather flat, I quite like it though, but I prefer laid back signature, warmth and very wide soundstage of no opamp because my system is quite forward

Are the latest creative drivers buggy and still  features limited?
*
Its only beneficial who uses Vista, if you using XP better stick with the older official one since there is no major upgrade from it. From what I read from various forum, yes, it is buggy
