Bro what @meno meant was between SB046A and SB0466. There is no such SB046X model. Basically the difference between SB046A and SB0466 is just the bundle it comes with in retail packs. SB0466 was an earlier release with an I/O module and a remote bundled together. SB046A is a later release of the exact same card without the I/O module and the remote. So, basically there is no difference between SB046A and SB0466, performance included. Well this is from what I understand and may not be entirely correct but the basic idea is there I guess. For your information though you can purchase the I/O module + remote alone at Thundermatch Low Yat for RM379.

Welcome to the weird and wonderful naming marketing gimmick, All three is the same, the card itself is identical, same DAC, same caps.

So asking which is better, all three is the same, unless you need extras like drive bay, remote etc. But all of them sounds the same

X-Fi can decode Dolby Digital EX and DTS ES internally (for movies, maybe games too). But it seems like on some card its rather limited, not all can decode both, and some can't even decode anything

If you live in Klang Valley, you can pay when it been send to you (cash on delivery) (this is through RS Malaysia). For Farnell, you can use Maybank2U IIRC

RS too accept payment through maybank, company account no. given, much more convenient drool.gif

hi, anyone using the Digital I/O module with your X-fi card?

im using now, connected with coaxial to my Ibasso D1 as DAC.
im getting some cracking sound when the volume exceed a certian level. like the signal being distort.
(i never get this problem with my emu0404)

im using foobar to play music.

anyone have this problem when using coaxial from the digital I/O module?

after i read the chart, i concluded that any model number end with 'A' won't have driver level DTS/Dolby decoding, so just buy Fatality SB0466 rather than SB046A....

they still can output DTS/Dolby surround even they don't have driver level decoding, just use the appropriate software such as AC3 filter and power DVD

Of course, its a pure marketing gimmick, they simply can't just put the discarded information back, that is why it sounded poor, especially on mp3 that is lower than 128kbps (to some extent, 192kbps)

I've tested it, it makes the high and the low better, but it sounds bloated, the high is too sharp while the bass is loose. I don't like it. I suggest you use Audio Creation mode, and enable Bit Matched playback and use ASIO (if you use foobar or Winamp)

Bit match works for anything, while WMP don't support ASIO
