Hard to say and i doubt new line of F310 build as solid top lol, Yamaha claim only model with S on it were solid smile.gif

But i think Cort has many spruce/laminated top model close enough within your budget, best way is to visit the shop and check out which one suit you best.

Cort Ad180 is not solid top. If you're really into this I suggest you at least double your budget and get Yamaha FG800(~RM1.2k) or FG700 (old model) which is solid top. And if you're new you can ask the sales guy to demo solid top vs laminate top and hear the difference. For newbie I always suggest to try and demo the guitar, see if it is comfortable first to play (at least you know what guitar size suits you) then you can consider the tone.

Or at RM5XX you can also consider putting the Farida D8 on your list as well.

i doubt you can get solid top at rm500 price range.
quality control is more important than type of wood
a good brand plywood guitar plays better than unknown brand solid wood guitars

yamaha f310 and Cort AD810 are good choices.
you have epiphone and fender to choose also
more important is the comfort in holding chords so a helpful seller can try to adjust the guitar for you.

once you are better, there are millions of choices out there for your next guitar.

a good player can make most guitars sound good
a bad player will never make even the best guitar sound good

work on your technique first, dont need to get an expensive guitar at this stage

Search Youtube for Peter Gergely - All of Me.
He was using an unknown brand laminate guitar.
He has almost 4 million views.
This made him well known and soon sponsors came with better guitars for him to play.

What i am saying is, some people can generate almost 4 million views by just using an inexpensive guitar. I dont think I can ever say laminate guitars are not good enough for me. Unless I can play better than that guy.

one of the easiest ways to tell if a top is laminate is by looking at the inner sides of the sound hole, if it is painted on, has many layers its most likely laminate

if its just bare wood its most likely solid

I can say that only yamaha f310 and the classical c40 are worth buying if you are an absolute beginner. In Malaysia, all the other yamaha guitars are really priced way higher than they are worth elsewhere.

The mid range F700-800 series sells for about SGD300 in spore but sell here for around RM1400

Ohh I myself recently hunt for a guitar.
You can refer to these website, they got lot of guitars you can try.

https://www.musicbliss.com.my/
(Got lots of guitars, I tried Yamaha FG 800 there)

http://www.theguitarstore.com.my/
(They are the official CORT distributor here, got lost of different brands as well)

I agree Yamaha F310 is a good beginners guitar but they are priced much higher here. I find other brands to have better build quality than Yamaha if they are priced similarly.
You can try out Takamine Dragon series, they have decent sound and build quality but slightly higher than your RM 500 budget.

The best option is to go and try out the guitars yourself. The employees are extremely helpful and they can help you find the right guitar for you.
Try look for a guitar with lower action, it'll be much easier to play for beginners.

Cheers and happy hunting bro smile.gif

For your budget, forget brand names and just try as many as you can until you find the one.

I used to own F-310, but I think there are now better China made (but unknown brands) that is better sounding and around RM500.
