Hi guys, 2 months back i went for a blood test and the results shows abnormally in the 'Helicobacter pylori' (螺旋菌) reading. The doctor prescribe me some medicine and asks me to go for a test for it. I supposed it should be an Urea Breath test. May i know whether it is available in any clinics in the subang / pj area? And how much would such a test cost?

Thanks thumbup.gif

Actually I don't see the need for a repeat test since you have been given h pylori eradication therapy.

Also, any symptoms?

after the antibiotics, you will need to take at least 1-2 months free from any PPI meds or even gastric reducing meds.

the doctor ask you to return to check is because the need to determine if the bacteria is still there.

you should get it retested with UBT. It is quick and easy with 95-98% sensitivity and specificity. It is easy.

Go to any clinic or labs (require doctor letter); ie: Pathlab..etc, and ask for a UBT test to be done.
You need to fast at least 10-12 hours... NO water/food

In the lab/clinic, you will be ask to blow into a small baloon , then drink a urease solution, wait 20 minutes, then blow into another small baloon.
The result would be given back to your clinic.

Please don't listen to people who don't know what it is....that you do not need to get it retested.
Also, if you are sharing food at home...it might have been spread through that....
You have a possible chance to get reinfected or infect other people with it.
