iirc if got disc they only install part of it in the HDD, the rest still loads from the disc. So the installation size will be significantly smaller

No. Performance issue. Now is everything is on HDD. The disc is just for verify check, usually when you launch the game from the menu. You only hear the disc spinning at that moment.

4k can be achieved with HDMI 1.3b, doesn't even need to be 2.0. A lot of these products are technically advertising correctly, it does support 4k. But you have to look at the fine print properly and see if it actually supports 4k at 30hz, 4k at 60hz, 4k through 4:4:4 at 8-bit minimum or not.

Not just because a product says "4k ready" means that it really does 4k properly. Same thing with HDR. Just because a TV says "HDR ready" does not mean it conforms to actual HDR standards. Don't be a blind consumer is all I'm saying. Good luck in your search. smile.gif

Side track abit. The thing is now get complicated, TV become more and more like a PC in layman perspective. Sometimes I feel like marketing ruin it. You really have to read the "small" fine print or the spec sheet. Elder people like my dad, I doubt he know how to buy a good 4k tv sweat.gif

Just a heads up before you guys dump your entire library of games onto your external HDD.

There are reports that some games can and will perform poorly on the external drive vs being on the internal drive. By poorly, some games can get stuttering in cutscenes (Yakuza 0) and erratic framerate drops when loading into a different area (Dark Souls 3).
No hard numbers here, but I'm just reading these from neogaf, reddit and the official PS forums.

Also some users has said that their external drives are randomly disconnecting. Now I've only read like 3 reports on this, so it probably doesn't mean anything because it could have been down to their enclosure having issues (I once had a malfunctioning external enclosure too).

Me personally, I have been using the 4.5 beta for nearly a month now but haven't encountered any of these issues. But then again, I haven't thrown my entire library of games onto the external drive either. In fact, I've only played 2 games off the external drive so far (Destiny and Injustice).

Thx for the info.

Btw, for the ext hdd, is it that psn account MUST be set as primary? I asking that because for *some reason*, some of my account is not set as primary and I wonder can it still allow to dump the games into ext hdd.
