There's currently 180 on the waiting list at KLCC Sony. I spoke to one of the product managers there (an old acquaintance) and he told me that they're expecting bigger restocks before or after CNY.

It will be a long while before msia gets equal shipment in PS4 slims (and all its SKUs) and PS4 pros however.

I'm ok with paying for the Pro as well and it's noticeable to me how fps will affect gameplay. But I think my fears was realized just a week or two before the launch (and after deposit), that games that are not patched will play the same as before when Mark Cerny told reporters that the system will turn off half of the system if the games were not patched to take advantage of the extra hardware. So it was not like a PC with more GPU or CPU where more specs meant better performance, it still required developers to patch games to use them.

So having a PS4 earlier, I had hoped games like Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3 and The Witcher 3 would run better with better specs but because of how the system works. They will never be patched and they will play the same on the old PS4s. And because Pro support is optional and not mandatory, many developers choose not to support games that have already been released except for a few of the bigger companies because they have the manpower like Square Enix. Even then like how I mentioned above, their improvements are not always clear. One could just be higher resolution UI like Overwatch and nothing else was improved or it could be wide sweeping options like Rise of the Tomb Raider where you get to choose from higher resolution, higher fps or mix of both. But coming from PC background, I wished that Sony mandated every developer to give options like these instead of weird crap like The Last Guardian needing to set your PS4 resolution to 1080P to get the best frame rate.

Now I'm not saying that these issues won't be improved as developers get feedback and adjust. But for now, unless you had a 4K TV that works with the PS4 Pro, with 10bit HDR support AND had a GAME MODE that reduces latency, to get the "best" performance is just a hassle and I find it super disappointing that 1080p has more or less similar experience to before unless developers choose to update the game and you don't have a choice to choose the "improvements" that you want.

Again, like I mentioned before. I was burnt many times. And maybe if I had it in my hands I wouldn't make as much noise. But having the free time, since I can't game. Going though all the games that have gotten updates late last year felt minimal or some do it downright atrociously (see: The Last of Us Remastered and Battlefield 1) where the developers can't decide on giving better graphics at the cost of frame rate or frame rate with slightly better graphics due to Sony's dumb arbitrary PS4 Pro improvements list.

To answer your question very simply; NO, it won't shorten the lifespan of the PS4 Pro.
If you want to hear out a theory, keep reading.

Previously before "boost mode", the PS4 Pro will run at the exact same clock speeds as the OG PS4, both on the CPU and GPU side. According to Cerny, he said this is to ensure 100% compatibility for older titles that do not have a "Pro patch".

It's not quite clear yet what "boost mode" does on the PS4 Pro, technically speaking. The OG PS4 has 18CUs (20 on die, but 2 disabled) and the Pro has 36CUs. However the Pro also runs the GPU clock at 911mhz vs 800mhz on the OG PS4. Until we get an internal look on the die of the Pro, it's only speculated that the Pro's GPU is a variant of a RX480, custom made for Sony by AMD. That means it is not the same chip as the OG PS4's GPU, which was based on the HD7850.

There are no differences in architecture on the CPU side other that a clock speed increase. So it's 1.6ghz vs 2.1ghz, logically speaking it makes sense that "boost mode" is allowing the Pro to run its CPU at 2.1ghz instead of being locked to 1.6ghz. So with that said, it logically sounds plausible that the "boost mode" removes the lock on clock speeds on the Pro when a game without a "pro patch" is playing.

To further answer your question then, the Pro's cooling capabilities are built around the Pro's specifications. So unlocking the speeds simply just lets the Pro run itself as it should. If a PS4 Pro has no issue exploding when playing a "pro-patched" game, then it will have no issues (hardware wise) when playing games without a pro-patch.
AND, finally - before ANYONE brings it up to cause confusion: Boost Mode DOES NOT, I repeat; DOES NOT make games with a "pro patch" run better or faster, at ALL.

Just gotten the Pro from a Sony Centre for 1799  . Was so lucky they have 2 units on stock.

Location is at Miri, Sarawak btw. I asked the sales person there whether the restocking is the whole Malaysia or not. Apparently, he said yes.

So those sourcing for a Pro better try your luck at a Sony Centre near you . No need to preorder or wait for batches 

If your ofis got ethernet connection and very fast unlimited speed, just bring it to your ofis for a day or two.  Set your PS4 to download a few games before bringing it to your ofis.  Plug in the ethernet cable and switch on.  The PS4 should  download automatically in the background.  If you don't want to disturb bandwidth during the day, just leave it overnight at the ofis.  Switch it on just before you go back and should be finished downloading by the time you come back to work the next day.
