I'm going to repaint my old house.

Which type of paint should I choose? ( Dulux or Nippon or Jotun )

1. Living room wall and ceiling
2. Bedroom wall and ceiling
3. Bathroom ceiling
4. Grille door for balcony
5. Kitchen ceiling
6. Laundry area ceiling

We need budget, not the expensive one.

Any suggestions?

Dulux and Nippon are premium paint. No doubt the best choice if money is not an issue.

I went for KCC. It's cheaper but some drawbacks:
Not many shades available
Quality of the paint is not on par with Dulux but still acceptable if you are on a tight budget.

Thanks. I heard somewhere in this forum.
They said Jotun better than both of the brand that you have mentioned.

Just get normal emulsion paint. Any of the 3 brands are about the same in term of quality and cost.

Nope, in terms of volume and price, for the same type of paint, Nippon > ICI > Jotun.
Recently just went for paint shopping and found out that Nippon's paints are 500ml lesser than others but price are the same.
*
Volume different?

Quality is the same?

For Nippon 500L is lesser or more?

Since I checked Dulux have either 1L or 5L.

When we are painting the whole wall, 5l is the standard, so Nippon is 4.5l. And if you are painting whole house, better get 20l type, again Nippon is 18l only.

Dulux(ICI) still the same compare to 10 years back. Jotun I'm not sure since the offer only for ICI when I placed order. But should be still 5l I assume. Always survey few shops before deciding.

OK. Thanks for tips.

I will follow your advice.

Will check by shop by shop.

Thanks again. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Just check the big shops first, as some smaller shops can't mix the color you need.
White based color usually are cheaper comparing to others.
*
OK. Where can I find the big shop?

In my neighborhood, got a few shop have paint brand name. ( Mainly hardware shop )
White color for living hall ceiling and wall. Including kitchen ceiling, laundry area ceiling and bathroom ceiling.

Blue color for bedroom wall and ceiling.

Usually those big paint shop sells only paints and come with color mixing machines.
Getting off-white paint are better, last longer in terms of look.
Source the paint from your nearby shops, as for whole house painting, getting free delivery are the best.

Thanks and big support for you.

Ok. Then you need to survey a few big shop.
You ask people paint or paint your self?
Normally contractor will know where get cheaper paint.
Ask friends too.

We buy the paint ourselves and we ask people to paint.

The price different should be about the same.
You may need to check a few shops, coz different shop have their own discount on certain brand. Something like main distributor for a particular brand at a particular shop.
