Hi all camera Sifus,

Camera super noobie here. Am looking for a camera just to take normal family photos, something better than smartphones and digital camera, but not until DSLR level. Price level is a factor too.

Type of camera/lens/accesories : Compact camera

Budget: 1k - 1.5k

Preferable brand : No preferred brand, reliable can dy. I only know Canon and Nikon

Type of photography u want to do : Nothing fancy, just thinking to get one for shooting pics during my holidays, want a camera better than using a smartphone, better than a digital camera.

Any specific models in mind? : After browsing Canon and Nikon website and comparing prices, I found 3 models within my budget range.

1) Nikon CoolPix B500
2) Nikon CoolPix L840
3) Canon PowerShot SX420 IS

Any specific features u want? : Rotating screen for selfie shots, wifi enabled to post pics online.

if u got extra budget ~RM2.2-2.3k, can try canon g7x , both photo n video quality not bad can flip screen to take selfie photo with family too

owned a Canon PowerShot SX420 IS, not so nice in my opinion

Actually I have been recommended this model too, this is the Canon Powershot G7X Mark 2 we are talking about right?

The issue is the price haha. Well, maybe if I wait a little longer can consider this.

Regarding the Canon PowerShot SX420 IS, in what area is its disadvantages?

the powershot SX420 IS , this is personal opinion la, not sure others,
- low battery life (very bad)
- photo quality not really good (my phone one better)
- feels more like a budget DSLR with minimum functions
- lcd screen resolution low
- cant shoot in RAW
- zoom in very slow
