I am stuck! Can anyone teach me how to do HR2 urgent quest (Repel Lao) I switch to spear upon this quest because i find it much more easier than using GS however i've failed! Any tips to solo it?

just keep on attacking the belly
and of cos dragon elemental is better
den apply the dragonator

The only dragon element weapon i have is my GS(Titernia) but i find it slower compare to Lance, thats why i chooses Lance for this mission, however i still cannot figure how i lose.. sigh

if ur intent on using lance for lao, u might want to try getting spear of prominance (414 raw 310 fire, possible to get at hr2 with rathalos plate) since lao takes damage from dragon and fire for the same percentage (most parts). get ESP skill too (fencing +10) and keep attacking the head. alternatively, get high wind resist to attack the belly so u wont be distrupted by the highwind from the feet. once lao reaches the fort, use farcaster n make use of the weapons n supplies they provide.

a more common way to tackle lao is to use sns/dual swords (eternal schism/eternal strife or other fire based weapons). if ur using duals, bring juices. make relentless attacks on the head throughout the quest. u might be tempted to stop and jump on its back. don't, cause u'll only waste valuable damage dishing time. do that in multiplayer or when u hv the best weapons.

another common way to do it is hammering lao's belly or feet. u wont be affected by the highwind when ur doing the charge attacks, but it'll be usefull if u do hv it for regular attack.

i dont recommend using gs, but it's possible. go for the head not the belly or u'll be left behind n have to deal with lao's tail.

u can gun lao from a safe distance too but u'll be need to make up for the reduced damage that gunner hv to deal wif. get a gun, light or heavy, with good damage and at least 2 lvl2 clusts. that's ur damage dealing ammo. bring max wyvren claws and sm bone husks n keep combining them to make clusts lvl2. u'll run out eventually, so bring other ammos too.

anyways, these arent the only way to do it. they're just the ones i've used and proven to be possible, even if they're inefficient. any of these methods are made easier when u do the quest in multiplayer tho. so dont be shy to ask for help when u get online

It's good for u to experience using other weapons..

FYI.. the HR2, HR4 & HR5 LaoShan hav the same amount of health..
It means double amount from LaoShan in Elder quest..

As for me to soloing repel.. i normally focus on High Attack power weapons & stats.. I normally use GS -Greatsword with dragon element..
Try to bring bombs & blast its head.. then bash with weapon on its head or belly..
Drink juice & mega/demondrug, powerseed..
Try to wear armor with Atk Up skill (smll, med or large)
so u already add enough atk stats..

u'll loose bcoz:
a. didn't deal enuff dmg to lao to repel him,
b. he manage to destroy the fort.

when he is at areaa 5 n banging at your fort,
u can check the fort integrity by accessing the quest info
on your menu.

i personally wouldn't recommend a GS against lao,
not that i'm against it but i find other weapons is much more suited
for the job, and u wouldn't get good duals until u reach g-rank
so no point asking u to farm for ancient stones.

Well, for starters u can try Corona or Blazing Falchion (sns)
and keep on pounding the belly/head your choice,
pack a few Lrg barrel bombs will help
break its horn.

as it reaches area 5 use the ballista along with the
dragonator. Lao will fall~

Armour wise, i'd say go for Rathalos Soul armour
which it will give you fast sharpening, high earplugs, detect
and spectre whim.

Advise: watch out for the tail.

When using sns, u can dish out inifinite combo
Normal Sns combo > triangle > triangle > triangle > circle
immediately after circle do a roll, then hit triangle again
and repeat the combo.

there will be another round of shooting lao...

but shooting laos need at least 3 people
else sure not enuf firepower
at most repel it, cant kill it
