I bought HC coz want to reduce hassle going to certain comic shop which is quite far from my place
that's y i just go to borders or Kino to save petrol, toll & time

I'm afraid if i get addicted to the comic shop, i'll spend more time to go there which is gonna cost me a lot more sweat.gif

Awww.. you would miss the excitement of getting your monthly books and talking to other fans.

No offense, but purchasing thru online and from the Bookshop kinda kills the excitement a bit.

Of course we can still put it up in forum provided if everyone just blab.. away.

amazing spiderman and ultimate spiderman are two versions of spiderman in different realities. they're from different timelines and thus their history and storylines are slightly altered, ultimate titles are created for more recent fans who weren't able to collect the currently running titles, some which began all the way since 1960s. there is also an ultimate xmen, 60-70 over issues already if i guessed correctly.

uncanny xmen and astonishing xmen differs in team line-up of the x-teams. astonishing is a bimonthly title (once every 2 months), stories mostly revolve around cyclops, white queen, beast, wolverine, shadowcat and collossus. the line-up for uncanny xmen were havok, polaris, marvel girl, darwin, warpath and nightcrawler before the current messiah complex takes place, it messed up the line-ups a bit due to tie-ins with other titles.

personally, although a big fan of xmen, i find it a bit hard to collect the comics because there are too many x-titles introduced and for a hobby it really burnt a hole in my pocket...wink.gif characters keep hopping from title to title, i find it hard to catch up if i don't follow a particular title, hahaha...

anyway, i was previously a mindshop member as well, one of the best comic shops around, caters mostly to regulars only.

X-Titles, you need to collect just a few not all.

Notable titles : X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Astonishing X-Men, X-Force.

Ultimate Series takes the heroes and heroines into the present time circa 2000's and showing what if.. Spider-Man faces today's scenario as compare to full of history and ongoing conflicts of existing Spider-Man.

As for Ultimate Spider-Man, it comes with full praises. The same with Ultimates, Ultimates 2.

Of course sir, I always believe in keeping them in a good condition. As a hobby and to pass them on when I'm no more around. Ha ha.

hi,
How much is the member fees now? I use to order from the mind shop when i was still studying back in 88. The shop was in KL plaza then before they move to starhill. Way back before Bintang walk. ha ha.. Btw, is Iris still working there? Please tell her K196 send his regards.. Thanks..
Wish you a good time collecting comics. I'm sure you'll enjoy reading them. Sometimes there are hidden messages in the artwork of certain artists. It's quite fun.

RM10 membership fee? that has doubled over the last couple of years.

two years back the membership was RM5, and i tell you it's definitely worth it considering the discounts you receive.

no idea about the chinese guy, but the old lady has been there since forever, not sure if she's the owner though.

anyway, i was a member already as well back in the days when mind shop was in kl plaza, which then moved to 1 utama before finally settling down in centrepoint. back then, mindshop has about 4 branches, if i've not mistaken, and due to the inpopularity of comic collection in malaysia, they've closed down one by one, such a sad case.

The cheapest comic I bought is RM2-50 for Uncanny X-Men # 248. Now Uncanny X-Men is closing into # 500.

The casts : Rogue, Storm, Psylocke, Colossus, Havok and Wolverine. Polaris is being possessed by Malice and joined Marauders. X-Factor consists of original 5's.

Now : Multiple X-Titles, Prof X is not actually so clean. Jean Grey is still dead! Emma Frost is Cyclops' girl ? That is changes.

Maybe the local comic shop should seek a weekly column and web-space to promote Comics or else being risked to die of slow death.

I think the lady with the specs is Iris. One of the older employee there. If the chinese guy with a bit of white hair should be the boss.

Does the Star still have a column on comics on friday? Use to be witten by Kaleon Rahan. I agree with you on comics promotion. The public should be aware that comics can be a good medium for passing messages across. Anybody still remember the APAZINE thing back in 88-89?
I still have my copy. ha ha. sure bring back memories..
I guess what we can do is to have a roadshow or exhibition on comics to create awareness and make comics fun to collect again. Whether it be in Chinese, English, Malay or in their translation form.
We can try get some of those local artist to attend signing like a certain Mr Tan or Milk.
Should be interesting to see how many people will turn out.

The initial feedback and review of Secret Invasion is positive, hence should be a 'HIT' for 2008.
