Penryn is Kentsfield clone built on 45nm with some minor tweaks. Clock to clock, Barcelona should be able to win the race. However, Penryn can go really high clock which is possible for Intel not to let go its performance crown.

More like "Phenom" aka fat Ronaldo (Brazil).
Don't think its a smart move though; the Athlon name is beginning to get recognition and they downgrade it to mid-level status. Unlike Intel they cant go on a marketing blitz ala Core2 ads i see on TV every hour.

I don't see any reason why you should open a new topic when there's already a discussion topic about K10.
