Sonus Faber is speaker for mids. when the music gets heavy, sonus knows its limit and your ear will start to search for that parts that is missing.

I begin to wonder on my setup (B&W 602 dynamic, clear and deep) , that on one hand i like the rock and roll but the mid and vocal are gone. if you listen to ProAC, Sonus, Opera, they give you hear tons of it. I begin to think is it my amp giving me the problem, which supposedly tube amp (soundstage 1.5) should give me good vocals. then I was told B&W 602 and Soundstage does not match..... sad.gif.

So i have a problem, and hope to hear your comments. Of course, i will bring my amp and speaker cable to test out at (hi way laser ?)

I have also auditioned the amp like Creek (RM 2400) and Exposure (RM 2600), which sounds more promising than my soundstage amp. however being british amp, u have to follow the british rules. clarity, at the expense of soundstaging. agree ? lets comment.

another amp i auditioned is chinese made Xindak. start with A100 then X6800 (Class A) and then X6950 (Class A). When I start with A100, i was like ok loh. Then X6800 is wow and then X6950 is like wow wow. When you switch amp to a higher class, it seems the speaker soundstaging just open even wider, making the speaker worth the value of a higher class. Being class A amp, I have not actually follow thru the rule to let the unit warm up, and typically takes 15 minutes or so. so I wonder if Chinese would ever make it to the world hifi amp arena. (remember Cayin, now the other chinese amp famous and won praise is AD86N)

I dont listen music to loud level, just enuf to enjoy at ordinary level. I auditioned the speaker with Creek using the tracks from Janis Ian (breaking silence) and 4 play (chant). From my own taste, I feel the B&W 602 S3 bass is more punch and engaging wheareas the sonus is just lacking. Well I happen to listen to the same track using amati (and unison research) and this is a totally different class, perhaps for those who owns Ferrari and Porsche.

BTW, a little off topic. Sifu Pcwork. I happen to see the speaker cable on sale at Amcorp i.e. MIT CL14-4, arrow, Bose. Price range around 350 - 600. Are they good? How about Cable Talk 3 (it seems cable talk 3 receive good review ).

Well my preference tells me so, and the auditions represents my opinion about what I think and feel. No one speaker sound the same, all depends on individidual taste. I am inclined more towards rock, occasionally vocal. So much so, I am getting another reference series speaker which coming soon. and this speaker will give me rock an roll, and the designer is Phil Jones.

Yes, great as it was, the NAD 3020A is not doing your SF justice.

I dont agree with this statement. if you have follow the internet, NAD 3020 is classic item. by classic, means its collector item. it is one of the best sounding amp by NAD. some people are crazy over vintage item (like beetles car), e.g. mcintosh power amp, MC 275.

but I would like to know how it sounds if SF is match with say Audio research preamp and Krell KSA250 ?

today try with Single Crystal copper cable. This blue snake is a real shocker.

Single crystal means continuous copper, almost without grains.

I certainly wouldn't dare to, but this is the Stereophile review that mentioned the BE718 "came eerily close" to the C1.

Yes. I think what u get is clarity and transparency like never before. that is the discrete opamp at works which is known to be neutral.

That opamp needs about 300 hours of burn in. U just need to make sure the RC1070 is on, no need to feed with music. There is a bias current that will run in your discrete.

The next level up in opinion is the DAC. That will consititute another 15 to 20 % of the improvement.
