I am buying a new Canon 80D but stuck between buying with the lens kit included or just the body but add on the 10-18mm lens. I am looking for a good lens with quite a wide angle for videography. Just mostly going to record myself talking and such. I heard that the 18-55mm for the 80D has been much improved from the previous though.

What do you think? Should I get the kit lens or just forgo it completely for the 10-18mm?

Thank you thumbsup.gif

You can consider getting a second hand 15-85mm lens.
This will cover a bit of wide and longer zoom.

I second the 10-18mm but 15-85mm for easier use.

Canon 10-18mm to start off with. The closer you are to the camera the clearer you sound in the audio.

Yea you probably have to buy a mic also to hear you nice and clear. Like this one: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1183..._on_camera.html (Make sure its the on-camera version and not the mobile phone version!)

Pretty much like a Casey Neistat Vlog setup.

10-18mm is you're a landscape lover.

If you're mixed between landscape and portrait then go for the 18-55mm instead. But bear in mind, 18-55 frustrates me a lot everytime when I'm taking landscape picture lol
