Hey guys, just checking if anyone had done DIY on their mechanical keyboard's switches? Just ordered a set of Gateron Clear switches and looking forward to get it done on my Filco, just curious if i'm able to get the soldering stuff at Mr DIY or probably Ace Hardware?

Get from jalan pasar.
Dont use rm15 soldering iron. You'll cry.

And get a good quality desoldring pump and wick.
Dont forget rubbing alcohol to clean the flux residue.

Damn, did not expect soldering iron can be that expensive LOL, guess i wasn't paying much attention in KH class during secondary school.

Rm500 is just entry level 1.
You should see the ones they have at my workplace.

Few k per set, including the tips and solder fume filtration system.

Same la like keyboard, some people happy with cheapo Logitech and I am happy with RealForce devil.gif

Mmmhmm, i'm not looking into investing so much into this project, is something around RM150 sufficient for the solder/desoldering job?

If you want el cheapo, just buy like your secondary school.

Cheapo iron
Desoldering pump
desoldering wick/braid. optional, unless you are working on LEDs
cheapo flux, mostly for desoldering
Rubbing alcohol + brush to clean off the residual flux
Tweezers
Long nose pliers (optional)
Snipping tool (something like this http://my.element14.com/plato/170/shear-cu...-me-pd-mi-acce)
SnPb solder
Some sponge/cloth

Safety Goggles (MUST)

That's about it I think.
And make sure you do it in a well ventilated area, or you'll get sick from breathing solder/flux fumes.
