Hello all. My first time posting here but been following it for some time. I just want to ask if this groupbuy is legit. I've never joined any gb before so this is my first time.
the result of my flico tkl cnc aluminum case and detachable cable mods: the cnc aluminum case is a flawless fit for filco tkl.
about the cnc aluminum case: it's about 1kg, consisting of a top case and a base plate. the color is titanium grey. from the outside it is flawless to me; not a single scratch or inconsistency in color. however, the finish is not perfect from the inside. scratches might be expected. the package comes complete with a detachable mod cable (mini-usb; no usb cable is included, so i just use the one from varmilo va87m), 4x rubber feet, all the screws that you need + extras. (i think the case was meant for certain custom boards, hence those extra screws)
the mod just took me like 15 minutes, including disassembly of pcb from stock case (3x screws), clean the pcb up thoroughly, and putting everything into the new case. (2 screws for securing pcb to the top case; 2 screws for the riser feet; 4 screws for securing the detachable cable module to the base plate; and 8 screws to secure the top case and base plate)
now, the only caveat: after installing everything into the new case, my left ctrl key acted weird lol (it suddenly became a mute media key!) this was because the pcb is touching the base plate. the solution is simple: just put the white packaging foam that came with the case between the pcb and base plate (as a layer of insulator). it's perfect again

pictar or it never happens !
sorry guys because last night it was very late, i was too sleepy; after typing all the texts i went straight to bed lol i will feed more pictures later.
it's a painless mod. now i know why people loves to replace stock cases with this thing. it makes the board sturdy af
edit:
here are some shots; sorry i don't have tools to open it up to show you guys the inside of it

this is originally a filco/red (majestouch 2 yellow; replaced stock caps with varmilo dark grey + yellow dye sub pbt; stabs lubed with superlube, thanks a lot to quovadis123 for the good tip!)
this is the mini-usb port.
this is the bottom with riser feet. it's relatively slippery for now; a large mat is necessary.

other notes about filco tkl with cnc aluminum case: after using it for a while imo the typing feels change especially sound. (also feels more solid when keys hit bottom; i think this part is subjective so you can ignore it)
for additional protection to prevent shorting, it's better to place insulators between pcb and case.
on the outside, it looks really nice, and relatively heavy. if your aim is for the look and weight for your filco tkl, then yes this is one way to go. the bonus is the detachable cable mod. however i don't think i will carry it around because of the weight. (a detachable cable mod with stock case makes more sense for mobility)
Guys please help me to choose which keyboard. Logitech G610 Brown Switches or Tecware Phantom Brown Switches ? logitech use cherry and tecware oetemu switches. Should I splash 300+ for logitech or 100+ for tecware. Logitech have 26-keyroll over and 100% anti ghosting but tecware 100% keyroll over and 6 key anti ghosting.

are those features that important to you? if yes, which one is more important?
imo the only practical thing for you to do is to test both boards at a shop. it's always better to try them out first hand for these switches, because they do feel somewhat different, even though they are in the same color.
personally i suggest to go for cherry mx brown because of their proven quality controls.

yes it should be fully compatible for several boards. how much is it? a few pictures of it might be good also lol
it's a sweet offer for those who have the compatible models they should consider this. i still think it fits filco tkl better, because of the 2 led holes.

yeah i agree. i also luv cherry mx browns, but these days got so many new switches. Not sure now whether there are better options.
those newer switches using optical for even better latency seem impressive on paper. But i haven't tried it yet in person
If you like bling, led lighting. But i much prefer quality keycap doubleshot pbs. Nowadays some models do come with that option which is great
new switches introduce more diversities and more choices for users. each has its own unique characteristics, so everyone can be happy hehe as for those with optical features, not sure also. however i hope they have something to prevent dust from interfering light in the switches.
yeah stock pbt key cap set is a better fit than led light for activities like gaming.
these days more new boards are coming in. hopefully some of them are worth keeping.
edit: here's varmilo va87m silent red, all stock.

.. and don't goto jayaone for ultimate.zone. they have moved to a new address at A-5-6, Pelangi Square Business Centre, Persiaran Surian, Pelangi Damansara, Petaling Jaya
it's been a while now. iKBC f87 is still one of the better boards.

actually that is a very good observation. anyone had one of these keyboards long enough to find out?
By the way saw this cute keyboard

possible mkb that goes with a laptop? looks small enough to fit in a laptop case. Sure there are mech keyboards integrated into laptops, but i find those to be poor value. You replace laptop when spec get outdated.

hopefully owners of Tesoro Excalibur SE Spectrum RGB (kailh switches) or Gram SE Spectrum RGB (tesoro's own agile switches) can tell us this. optical switches bring better features to the table tbh, including elimination of key chattering due to oxidized contacts; hot-swappable switches-the only problem for now might be availability of compatible switches lol
i'm also not sure about the life span of infrared optical sensors, which is said to have 100,000 hours (that's like around 22 years of 12-hour usage everyday; sounded like typical marketing to me, but who knows)

that's a nice 40%
besides the value part, even if it can fit into a laptop, but only in those classical bulky gaming models. it negates the current trend of making thinner laptops, even for gaming type.
i still prefer plug-and-play for mkb hehe
edit: btw the font used for legends in Tesoro Gram SE Spectrum RGB is ugly. seriously. luckily we can get rid of them easily.

Does anyone know whether the new Filco boards use Cherry style stabilizers or the old "Costar" stabilizers? They are still manufactured by Costar, right?

yes i think it's still costar-based; you can check out videos at youtube for new filco that have partial exposure of the stabilizers.

Getting very bad experience with Corsair K70 Lux RGB. S,D,G,T keycaps broke. None of my previous keyboards has broken keycaps.
key caps of corsair boards are really of low quality. it's a pity really. corsair have charged premium for them, yet they cannot afford to make gaming boards whole with a better quality key cap set. yes it's about costs, but we are not asking for gmk.
grab one better set from taobao, or just do rma if the warranty is still valid.
