A reasonably price all tube amp is quite hard to find in Malaysia. Trust me...... me and echobrainproject have been shopping for one for quite a while. Like everyone else suggests..... try out ceriatone.
Will be purchasing a CeriaTone JCM800 hopefully by mid or end of this year.

As for the speaker cab/combo dilemma, it's quite cheap to build a 1 x 12" or 2 x 8" speaker cabinet..... I'm sure there are a few people around the forum that knows where you can get them.

How about the Fender Blues Junior or the Vox AC15CC? Both should be around your budget. biggrin.gif

you can check out carvin amps (maybe not so much for indie but can try anyway), my friend has a small 1x12 combo with about 25 W or something like that. Can't remember the model name, but it definitely has nice clean sounds and it's pretty neutral. So if you have a decent preamp, you can pretty much steer the sound in the direction you want to produce nice crunchy ODs.

Maybe Laney combos are an option too. I haven't tried any before though. Marshalls are abit out of budget i guess...

thanks for the suggestion bassix...agreed..Marshall tube is out of the budget..wouldn't want to get the VS series though..i just need a small tube amp for bedroom practice...Valbee is also an option..but the visual is not really my taste...

Carvin,Laney,Crate..a lot of option out there...but the concern here is..is it available here...??

laney used to be available in the yamaha's shops... but i wouldn't recommend the small LC15R. I'd rather pay the extra bucks and go for LC30 or VC30.

30W is not really low wattage though... you'll have plenty of guts in those beasts !!

I think they cost about 4k.

Other solution : Ceriatone ! (anyone said that already ? biggrin.gif ) i'm sure they can customize a small wattage amp for u.
if they don't provide the cabinet, order one online. a cheap 2x12 or even 1x12 (1x10 ?) if it's for bedroom practise. Smaller than 1x10 might be an error : can't go low enough, will sound like a radio-set biggrin.gif

other advantage of ceriatone's solution : you can buy a good-quality head + cheap cab now, then later enhance your cabinet... while if you buy an average combo now, you have no possibility to enhance later.

Oh.... if it's for bedroom practice only... Try out the Kustom Tube 12 amp..... available at Guitar Collection.... it's surprising powerful for a mere 12w, and sounds quite good..... Should be around the RM500-600 mark.

More info here: http://www.kustom.com/amps/guitar/practice/tube12combo.asp

Well, sad but true; if you want good gear, most of the time you need to look outside the country. Indonesia is a good place to start. They have much more choice when it comes to music equipment (don't look down on indons *not a racist statement tongue.gif *). Just go to the website of the amp you want to buy and search for dealer location. There's usually one in indonesia. Also in singapore, but i am anti singapore for certain reasons, so don't ask me.

Other than that ebay is also good, but shipment is expensive if it's a big thing and if it's coming from the states (usually it is).

power compatibility issues if equipment comes from US also, no ? have to replace the power "transformer" in the amp..

12W ... if it's tube, it has to be loud biggrin.gif

depending on the dealer in US, you can request for the export version.

if not, you can also use a seperate transformer anyway, no need to replace anything in the amp.
i have one myself, tho no more US voltage stuff anymore tongue.gif

since u r looking for room practise amp, i would say go for valbee. it nice just the visual looks crap. anyway..spray it black. if u r looking for 30W tube amp like Marshall or MesaBoogie, i think we wont find it. unless u got a bomb in ur pocket. anyway decide ur best n good luck !
