Ok guys....
I would have to agree with all of you guys here first and for most. Yes, what all of you say is true. TMNet sucks. But let me do some explaining to all of you guys.
I am a TM user since the old dial-up days back to 1994. The speed was even worse. Added with no customer support line to call. Ended up trying other provider like Time and Maxis. But end of the day, have to use back TM because Maxis charge more expensive. Time, needless to say, went gulung tikar for don't know what reason.
Since the launch of Streamyx, many of our Malaysians has been subscribing to it, using it and terminating it. As one of the Broadband provider in Malaysia, they are trying their very best to provide their very best connection.
The reason for the slow connection is not to be blamed. TMNet is trying their very best. I am not form TMNet though. all we have to blame is ourselfs. Why?
The reason why is.... Imagine this.... A business owner went to a TMpoint. He wanted to register for a Streamyx account. The customer service then told him the terms and condition, "Sir, the lowest package for you to subscribe to as a business owner is SOHO RM148 per month". Guess what he say to the Customer Service? " Why can't i use the Basic RM66 or RM88? i am here today to subscribe for RM88. If you can't do it for me, then forget it". The customer service replied very calmly" Sir, i am so sorry, we have actually reserved all basic packages and bandwidth for the home users". The man replied rudely"F*** the home users. Why want to reserve for them? they all are VIP, dato and Datin ah? Why business cannot use meh? Why must only use SOHO? Why 6 yrs ago ppl can apply fir that?" The customer service replied "so sorry sir, i know that we did allow it last time because the lowest package for business at that time was RM418 per month. We understand the situation that is why we allow it last time. Since now we have actually dedicated a server just for SOHO, so all business owners have to use it, rather than jamming up the home users server" The man just look at her, shows her the middle finger and left the TM Point.
Can you imagine that? A Managing Director of a company, highly educated and don even bother about others? Who to Blame? TM? i am staying in Subang Jaya where most of the Ports in the area is full. Connection speed sucks for last few years, but since TM has its new policy, they have actually changed alot of this business users package so that it would not take up its bandwidth.
About downloading, why is it so slow? Yes, you might have subscribe to 1Mbps connection speed, you are getting like 800Kbps. isn't that good enough? why no one complain when we using a 56Kbps connection and paying RM200+ per month for the connection? When you have 800Kbps, does not mean you can download things for 800Kbps. It also rely on where are you downloading from and how much of upload speed that the other party's server have. if he has a upload capability of 384Kbps, can you download his things for 800Kbps? And how many ppl are actually downloading from that server? Try downloading from an server of website which have low traffic? Fast?
Why don shoot LYN when their server is busy? Just an example. We have to know that in Malaysia, we are all using dynamic IP. Why? good question. Can you afford to pay fo an single or dedicated IP? if yes, by all means suggest that to TM. They might provide you with one. I am using a Single IP. Connection is at its best. RM418 1Mbps, but getting 4Mbps. Good man. Ive never watched Youtube with having to wait. Now that's what i call broadband. If you want a demo, come to my shop. i am glad to proof it to you guys. Dynamic IP is like a highway, the more ppl is using it, Walla, Traffic Jam. Wondered why no one ever dare to complain to PLUS Highway for paying Toll and getting Jammed in their HIGHWAY? Or ever SPRINT HIGHWAY? Pay RM1.00 but stuck in jam for 1 hour. Aren't Highways meant to be jam free? WHO to blame? What will our nice Mr Sammy Vellu reply? i will reserve my comments....
The reason for the rude and stupid reply that you get when you call 1300-88-9515 is that all of the staff in there are under VADS. Most of them know nuts about PC and broadband trouble shooting. Ask you not to use auto connection, make you run up and down disconnecting the splitter and shit like that. Ignore them, they are really useless. My suggestion, Call 100 and in there don choose the Data but the Telephony fault reporting. They are glad to help you, and they are ppl from Telekom Malaysia, not VADS.
