NOT A RANT!

I just paid my Streamyx bill less than half an hour ago after being disconnected for a few days. They said it usually takes about 4 hours but when I arrived home, it was already reconnected.

If I'm not mistaken, that's quite an old story. It was in the local papers a few months ago.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you.

I don't think anyone has any particular issues at p2p stuff myself included, just that the niggling thing that's driving me up the walls today is that I can't seem to access anything related to microsoft.com to update my comp and a few selected websites.

Oddly enough, a good number in my long bookmarks don't seem to share that issue.
*
You might try to disable firewall for the duration of the update from Microsoft website. My updates never work if I don't disable firewall for Microsoft website.

Mine same case the last one week. The speed yo-yo between 128Kbs and 1.5Mbs especially during afternoons and early evenings. When I pick up the phone, there is crackling sound, so I play with the phone hook until the crackling is less and only then my speed improve. Sometimes I have to do it a few times before my speed returns to normal.

is there such a thing like free upgrade from 1mb to 1.5mb using the 1mb package?

my speed was 1.5mb all this time until i've moved from my old house to a new one.
*
There is no such thing as a free upgrade. It was just that there were not many users in your old area and they were nice enough to give you 1.5mb. Some people even get 2mb.
