looks like the problem is not with the isp, looks like localised problem with your system traffic or with dslam or rdslam and do not run ping test during torrent session cos for  sure get high timeouts... anyway this is my results without torrent session.
*
The problem IS with the ISP. Problem with dslam or rdslam IS also the ISP. Who else does the dslam or rdslam belong to?

When I run ping test, I DO NOT run torrent.

Now my connection is fine for the time being but a few hours ago it was s**t. So tell me, is it still the ISP or dslam or rdslam or torrent???

Edit - Sorry... Just pissed off with the ISP and some ppl who give such authoritative view without knowing s**t. A little knowledge is very dangerous.

Read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ping but you really must know how to ask Uncle Google or Auntie Wikipedia.

Hopefully you don't expect to be spoon-fed all the time just like baby. blink.gif

Streamyx is really "funny".

Since this morning, my connection was on and off and on and off! Suddenly at 5:00pm until now, my connection was like what I normally get. Even the US/DS, SNR Margin and Line Attenuation was normal. Weird!!!

What's wrong with my connection? I only got the speed below a few months ago for about a week using direct connection (no proxy).

CODE
:::.. Download Stats ..:::
Download Connection is:: 949 Kbps about 0.9 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)
Download Speed is:: 116 kB/s
Tested From:: http://testmy.net/ (Server 1)
Test Time:: 2007/05/07 - 4:43am
Bottom Line:: 17X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 8.83 sec
Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 25.834 seconds to complete
Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 130.9 % faster than the average for host (net.my)
D-Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/stats/id-RLF617TJY
User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9a5pre) Gecko/20070504 Minefield/3.0a5pre [!]

Tested less than 5 minutes ago.

Anyone getting similar results?

Off topic - Ever wonder why www.intel.com downloads faster than www.microsoft.com?

What package are you subscribing?

If 512kbps, then it is about right. TM will not accept any complaints if you do not test at their website.

Added on May 25, 2007, 8:52 pmIt is really ridiculous to be subscribing to the 1Mbps package and yet my connection keeps fluctuating for the last month.

I am now posting using Celcom 3G unlimited package which is very much more stable then TM's "broadband" even if it is under the same parent company.

Give them a call and tell them. Better still go to TM Point to make a report.

Well... hopefully they change the box tomorrow and your connection becomes excellent. That box is called the DP (Distribution Point) and distributes the telephone wires to your neighbourhood up to a maximum of 10 lines for each box. Voice signals don't really need a "clean" line but DSL does.

Someone please correct me if I explained anything wrong.

If you are just surfing or doing direct download (not BT) then you might try to use proxy server 219.93.175.66:3128 (if you have not done so). I get really, really slow speeds (slower than dial-up) if I don't use proxy server.

You might also like to install netmeter to monitor your speeds. It can be found at http://www.metal-machine.de/readerror/

Maybe I should also call 100 to check my area wiring because my telephone line got cracking sound when calling. Some more the last few days always got thunderstorm and lightning around my area.

Us Rate (Kbps) 512
DS Margin 20
US Margin 18
DS Line Attenuation 39

Trained Modulation ADSL_G.dmt

My connection seems to have been stable without dropping connections every few hours since yesterday. My DS/US Margin & Line Attenuation is also back to normal.

Just hope it lasts.
