There has been much discussion here on 1.5T vs 1.8 maintenance cost and also worries about the cost of maintaining a turbo engine.

Let's see the facts as stated in our Quick Guide Manual pages 18-21.
Below is the schedule for parts replacement. It is the same for both 1.5T & 1.8 except that 1.5T follows the Maintenance Minder for Engine Oil & Oil Filter:-

1. Engine Oil - every 10,000 km or 6 months
2. Oil Filter - every 20,000 km or 12 months

3. Air Filter - every 30,000 km or 1.5 years
4. Dust Filter - every 30,000 km or 1.5 years
5. CVT Fluid - every 40,000 km or 2 years
6. Brake Fluid - every 60,000 km or 3 years
7. Iridium Spark Plugs - every 100,000 km or 5 years
8. Fuel Filter - every 110,000 km or 5.5 years
9. Engine Coolant - every 200,000 km or 10 years.

Other facts on 1.5T vs 1.8:
- 1.5T lower fuel consumption
- 1.5T lower road tax (RM90 only)
- 1.8 lower insurance premium
- 1.8 cheaper tyre replacement cost.

Now you can make an informed decision.

To me, the turbo would most probably be only slightly more than the non-turbo in terms of maintenance costs.
Depending on the driving style, the turbo could even be cheaper from fuel savings.
And looking at the maintenance schedule above, the frequency of parts replacement is very low. Turbo looks affordable to me.  smile.gif

Is Katsana has annual fee ? Connex charge RM1 per day..Annual fee about RM36x  hmm.gif
*
Nolah bro.

RM360 is only track the car location.

I paid RM480 which got insurance. RM5k if car stolen and recovered within 72 hours

RM10,000 for more than 72 hours. I heard for Honda, you get 20% discount on next purchase if cobra can't find it.

Also, I'm curious that Civic awarded car of the year everywhere.. where??? laugh.gif

Nah... For Honda installed Cobra Connex (aptly named Honda Connex), it's specially priced at RM360/year - including the insurance. Can see the PDF link above for the source.

If Connex cannot find the car within 72hours, it's RM10K cash + RM15K subsidy on new Honda car. This is on top of your normal car insurance.

I got a Cobra for Mazda 3 and transfer to my civic. I was also thought the package is this (M3) until the technician forward me "new price structure"

The highest is M6, which enjoyed insurance. Updated 15th May 2016

my kelisa year 2001 model. time for it to retire
Handling very important for me. How much more expensive to maintain than Toyota??? got 5 yrs warranty now. no worry
*
If handling really important, actually, try Mazda 3. But too bad no turbo..

Anyway..

Yesterday was driving in LDP around 8.50pm when a sohai in 1.5TCP (WD 5 forgot..)white keep high beam.

Why the f#%k you high beam??? I was in slow lane and not much traffic. Think drive white with turbo already king of the road?

i heard a lot ppl said mazda handling not bad wor.
*
Handling is awesome. It's steering feel is better than civic. However. You really need to adapt because handling good, not mean comfortable. Civic is more comfortable.

anyone installed kn&n filter to FC, significant boost?
*
I got. Same like other K&N products.

You don't feel anything but acceleration improves.

Wait. You talking about 1.5TC? Cause mine is 1.5TC.

Update:
Just got back from SC, they refixed my A-Pillar cover both sides (i knew both were loose as there is free play between the cover and the car body when i press on it)

So far driving back no more rattle

Ill test and update here if this is really the culprit for the rattles
*
The cricket sound appears when you go through bump? I got that sound too. Thought it was my dashcam

Quick question. Using other than Honda parts is ok? As in no warranty issues?
*
I've used on previous Honda City, Mazda 3. So far, no issue.

yes mine is 1.5TC.. if it does improve then good investment.. no need to change filter at SC.. how much u bought and where?

Thanks friend! Get outside mechanic to fix? Ok boh? I had a mechanic who screwed up Preve headlights when I bought it when it first came out, end up had to send to Proton to fix...
*
Sorry for later reply.

Actually can fix yourself. Just Philip screwdriver will do. The filter is lifetime and improves acceleration. HP only gives extra 1HP.

If you want more, go for Cold Air Injection or Short Ram. Those give max 5% HP
