With other nuts you can still use a socket wrench to forcibly open the nuts but McGard has a security mechanism to protect against that. As far as safety goes I'm truly impressed with McGard but I'm worried about the consequences of being overly protective.
*
There is no way to use a socket wrench to grip against the McGard lock nut. So thieves wont even bother to try. The other designs, the not so smart ones will try to force it open damaging the rim and lock nut.

I went with the McGard. Really quality lock nuts. The sticker of the code of your locknut can be stuck to your svc booklet in case you loose the key, Honda will help you order a replacement key based on the key code.

anyone notice that the tyre noise gets louder? am at 6k mileage. Seems that it's louder than when new or before.

Anyone changed their tyres and is happy with the tyre noise?
*
I stuffed pillows in the trunk to absorb the noise. It's much better. For those experiencing really loud road noise try the following:

1) Check tyre pressures
2) Remove Honda cargo boot tray if you have one
3) Leave the rear armrest folded up
4) Stuff a few pillows in the trunk and gauge the difference.

Seems for coating, they recommend do wax 1st and coat, so i've been sandwiching alternately weekly and 4th coating in 1 mths tongue.gif hahaha so at this rate sure more than 7 mths if i do nothing for next  6mths which I cant ignore it as been my habit to do it weekly of more often as I re challenge myself again with black car after previous was silver(1st 2 was dark blue and black)
.
U lagi giler detail until mirror/glass n tyres.
me just body/bumpers and normal wet cloth wiping for dashboard only(so far good enough for my past cars)

Coating is meant to bond to the surface, so usually surface prep is key to make sure the coating lasts. Pure Waxes are not supposed to be abrasive but don't last. I believe Fusso coat is a wax + special solvents. A few reviews say it lasts ~6months. But relatively easy to apply and remove if using just a thin coat. Due to the nature of it being a wax, I think the durability and hardness will not match typical SiO2 coatings like G-techniq, CeramicPro, Gyeon MOHS etc.. etc..

yeah own preference , those so called expert detaillers are damn expensive but wont last that long unless continuously go back for maintenance.wont prevent chips also.

Agree. They have to cari makan ma, pay rent, salaries etc. For detailing kakis who are used to surface prep work, the effort to apply an SiO2 coat is not hard at all. Similar to say using Fusso coat. Only things is these SiO2 coatings are not sold off the shelf in stores. But with online shopping anything is now possible! Just be careful and use gloves, mask and lots of microfibre cloth.

The Carpro cQuartz coating is highly rated SiO2 coating and some pro detailers say the optical clarity is superior to CeramicPro. Only USD49

Thanks for the very detailed explanation. So your advise not to wash the car very frequently to maintain the wax life.
I use my car as commute to work everyday and the road I use is very very dusty especially on rainy days if I happen to be stuck behind a lorry. It is really worst that after the dirt dry off, my car look like cover by mud. So, in this case if I wash just using water will it make the dirt go off easily? and only wash using car shampoo once a week?

So did you replace the Waxing step with the Soft99 fusso 12 month on your recent try out. I saw some of the youtube video you posted on that. It looks impressive outcome.

Washing frequently with a good PH balanced shampoo is important to maintain the coating/wax on the car. Many shampoos are quite harsh and meant to clean super dirty cars and strip dirt/oil/grime and strips waxes, polymers and coatings in the process. PH balanced shampoos are gentle to existing treatments already done on the surface.

Good PH balanced shampoo you can buy off the shelf includes : Meguiars Nxt Car wash, Sonax Gloss Shampoo, Zymol Auto Wash to name a few. The bottle and label should clearly state it's PH neutral if it is so, as it's a premium quality of a good car shampoo. Not all Meguiars car wash products are PH balanced/friendly. So if your coat your car, make sure you use PH balanced shampoos to prolong the life of the coating.

There are also different types of surface properties each product leaves behind (most car shampoos leave behind polymers to enhance shine and protect paint). Some are high tension which sheets water off and some low tension surface properties which beads water on the surface. 2 school of thoughts, as some say water sheeting doesn't induce water marks from water beads drying under the hot sun leaving the water mark stains. However, water sheeting actually attracts dust as well and you'll notice dust will settle and stick on your car even if you drive it around. Low tension beading shampoos/waxes allows dust to blow off easily when you drive your car. All in all, I still prefer high beading products as I cannot tahan to see dust gather on the surfaces especially on dark color cars, so i'll just ensure if it rains and my car is parked outside, I take the special effort to drive it off before it's left to bake with the water beads under the hot sun.

thanks bro,Indeed very informative

I have done the soft 99 12 months on my white civic !! very impressive result!!

Will try the glass refresh soon and also the ultra glaco , will order it right away.
Did you try to apply  Carpro cQuartz  ?

Another worry for our low car , is our car will be more easily vunerable to stone chips , especially when we are behind lorry or suv ( mainly higher cars ) , this product sounds like it can protect from stone tho, is it true?
*
There are a few detailing blogs/articles on how to best apply cQuartz. Generally, just apply and wipe off and it comes off easily. Key is not to wait too long before wiping off and use a thin layer of coat else it's gonna be a pain to buff off. Also as with most SiO2 coating, don't fret too much after the initial apply (as the feel of the surface may not be significant initially) and wait 3 days (try to avoid water) and you'll notice the texture and feel on the surface hardens.

SiO2 coatings resist scratches due to their hardness rating, but stone chips is a different level of impact which only clear paint protection films can help protect against.

Saw lotsa new civic nowadays, the only color will made me look twice and turn my head is the BLACK color!

It looks menacing and looks upscale especially if the light is the LED version... the aura just like an Audi or a merc...  thumbup.gif

I turn an look each time a Dark Ruby Red one passes by. Still quite rare and I think it looks great on the Civic with dark tints.

Very rajin. Does Fusso Coat coat the black plastic parts well or you did not apply to those parts as most waxes will cause white overun marks on black rough plastic bits? Normally, from a glance you can tell cars that have been SiO2 coated by just looking at the black plastic bits. The SiO2 coated ones are really black!
