This is a brief introduction about the newest Gundam Trading Card Game (TCG) that has been introduced by Bandai. I will use the simple question to introduce this latest installment of TCG.

What is Gundam Cross War?

Gundam Cross Wars (GCW) is the latest installment of TCG from Bandai. They have a previous TCG which is called Gundam Nexa. Due to complicated gameplay (imho), Bandai decided to create another newer card game that is much simple to learn hope to gain some TCG pie in Japan. So far atm (imho), the biggest TCG in Japan is still Magic The Gathering followed by Yugioh and the others like Pokemon.

When Gundam Cross War introduced?

It was first launch in August 2015 and up to current they have launched 6 booster box and 3 starter pack. This week (25/11/16) they are going to launch another booster box worldwide in Japan and across Asia Pacific region (yes Australia included)

Why Gundam Cross War?

Now this is due on my humble opinion. I will list down the pros and cons on this GCW TCG that i still learning to play so far. I am playing Pokemon only atm and just want to list down some of the points that I see atm.

PROS

1) Is a new TCG, means that you can get some awesome card that is useful atm without much splurging too much money.
2) Currently there is only 1 language for this TCG (in term of physical card) means you can get it from Japan or other country without have to worry. If you play Pokemon TCG before you will understand.
3) It is simple to learn (was told it was almost similar to Magic The Gathering). The faction of each Gundam series are quite balance atm.
4) It is much cheaper compared to Pokemon (you will understand this as well if you play Pokemon TCG). Meta deck atm is not as expensive as meta deck in Pokemon TCG.
5) Booster launch usually around 3-4 per year unlike Vanguard (I don't play Vanguard, I was told that Vanguard has too many booster launch)
6) It is more tactical than Vanguard (again this is what I heard)
7) It has competition as well in Asia Pasific region. The first Championship for this year is gonna be at Singapore.

CONS

1) Barely new TCG so players are quite limited (compared to Singapore and Hong Kong)
2) Region locked card (I will explain later)
3) Single cards are hard to find atm due to limited player (means card circulation are slow and limited)
4) Tournament are not as frequent as Pokemon tournament (again due to same issue, less participant)
5) Lack of advertisement and shops that sell GCW TCG merchandise (again due to less exposure and new)
6) Language barrier (it might be true to some players but I will explain to you how you can play as well without knowing Japanese)

Where can I get to know/learn/obtain Gundam Cross Wars cards/sellers/players?

Atm there are only 1 Card Game shop that is the official distributor for GCW. I have linked some website for the convenient to check on the page itself. So feel free to join the FB group or go to the website or even comment below to kickstart your journey to conquer the TCG with your favourite mecha timeline.

This post I am going to list down some of the hiccups for the new players, including myself as a reference. I just share what are the things that I know so far.

1) There are 2 region for this GCW TCG which is Asia Pacific and Japan. To identify on which region of card that you brought just simply look at this sticker upon your purchase.

user posted image

The one without this sticker are mostly Japan card.

2) Some of the country atm that is participated in GCW World Championship are Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, japan and Hong Kong.

3) The reason of the region lock for the card is only applicable to the smartphone apps. If you go to Google Playstore/Apple Store you can download the GCW apps and play on your smartphone. I didnt play the smartphone version so I can't explain much on this one.

4) Every card you purchase will have an QR code behind each and every card, means we (outside Japan) only can use Asia card to scan it into your smartphone and play. If you purchase GCW Japan card means you can't scan/own it virtually on your smartphone apps.

5) In terms of physical cards, there is no restriction to use Asia/Japan card for any player (unlike Pokemon TCG where we can only use US card). Simply means that you can use either Japan/Asia card physically and it is legal in tournament/competition.

6) Sadly to say that I myself discovered that sometimes importing booster from Japan is a little cheaper compared buying to Asia card. I have no idea what is the reason of cheaper selling price in Japan. On the flipside if you have no intention to sell and play your Japan card online then it is a greenlight. Of course the best is to support the local scene so that this GCW will continue to grow.

7) Was told by seniors of this GCW TCG players that the support for Asia Pacific country is more compared to its native homeland. Means we actually have more promo card and goodies when it comes to Booster launch and stuff.

8) The current player for GCW TCG are quite diverse in terms of location. Unlike Pokemon where there are a few hotspot in Klang Valley that can host official tournament, up to current the only GCW tournament are mostly held in PJ which is the official seller.

9) Some people will think that Japanese written card is a barrier for them to play, well it is the same to Vanguard as well but there are still Japanese Vanguard tournament held weekly too. For new GCW TCG player like me wish to know the cards function/ability you can always head to their Official Website and find the particular cards for the translation.

10) Card size is the same as Yu-Gi-Oh cards so sleeves are easy to obtain.

Will write down more when I can think about the hiccups in future.

These are some of the promotion deck that's been introduce before you make the big decision of buying booster/cards to play. Feel free to ask me to get a promo deck. This promo deck can be registered into the smartphone apps to play as it is Asia card.

Hi, unfotunately I myself not sure what is the cardlist for yellow deck. But the confirmation part is this yellow deck is not standard legal (cant play in actual game) and cant register to the apps itself. Highest rarity of this card is actually Freedom Gundam that you can get in ST-02. Stsrter deck #2.

Ok, yeah, it makes sense as the red rouge number is even wrong. (not BT01-) so you may have 6 of it in game. (rule state unit cards only same card number are limited to 4, not by the name.) Thanks

Which country are you btw? If your country sells the card you can sell back to the locals there. In fact Msia is the not that popular in terms of players compared to other Asia country like Spore, Thailand, Indonesia.

What card do you have? Might be interested. If possible can show picture.
