I think brand of car does affect its RV in a way or another.

But in longer term most cars would have depreciated more and less the same percentage.

It really depends on brand. Generally cars lose half of its value in 3 years in many countries like UK. However here in Malaysia, Toyota and Honda seem to be able to retain its RV better than other makes. Continental cars seem to lose a bit more than Koreans or Japanese.

Worse is conti.

I bought my 2012 Peugeot 3008 at RM 60k last year. I believe official price is RM 150K+ when new.

Condition is marvellous except need to replace the A/C compressor, water temp sensor, ABS sensors and high pressure fuel pump. Total RM 4K.

Conclusion?

Conti no resale value except for supercars.

The former owner lost over RM 90K in just 3 years. Luckily he bought the car with cash (no Hakmilik dituntu oleh on the geran).
