UK MoD under fire, former Admiral claims new Type 45 Destroyers are as noisy as a 'box of spanners'
Retired Rear Admiral Chris Parry claims our £1 billion pound Type 45 destroyers can even be detected from 100 miles away by Putin's deadly new hunter killer subs.
It highlights growing fears defence chiefs have wrongly concentrated too much investment on the war against terror whilst ignoring the resurgence of Cold War hostilities.
Former Type 42 destroyer commander Parry claimed the MoD had ignored the threat from enemy submarines whilst investing in anti-aircraft and missile defence systems. “Noise suppression has been probably the biggest dirty secret since the end of the Cold War that people have been cheerfully ignoring.”
Parry said the ships were "noisy as hell", adding: “During the Cold War . . .the ships I was in were the equivalent of a whisper.
“These ships now are the equivalent of someone shouting at somebody.”

The Army's newly acquired Ajax IFVs are also accused of being a bungled purchase, with it revealed that the armored vehicles cannot fit into the RAF's A400M transport aircraft as they are and its side armor needs to be dismantled in order for the vehicles to fit the transports.
However, the MoD hit back, saying that
they do not need the Type 45 warships to be stealthy as the new ships are designed for air defence and not for battling enemy submarines. And sources said that the Ajax is specially designed so that it can be refitted at short notice for different missions, making it a versatile battle vehicle.
