I would love to see 76mm gun back into the field.
It would easily destory helicopters, ifv and apc.
Currently seeing just too many 30mm and 40mm gun.
*
talking about 76mm gun,is 'rooikat' still in service with south african army ?

a battle proven armoured vehicle that can use naval 76mm ammo.. rooikat probably among the first 8x8 armored vehicle in the world.. rooikat was produced to counter Angolan t55 tank

Royal TOwn Class eh?

Pekan
after this can choose

Arau, Anak Bukit, Kuala Kangsar, Klang, Seri Menanti, Kota Tinggi..

so we need Japan to donate 5 more to complete the class
*
i think its just a co-incident... the name probably not related to royal town....

the 2 donated vessels by japan to mmea will be names 'pekan' and 'arau'...

pekan is constituency/parliment of najib, while arau is constituency/parliment shahidan kassim( minister-incharged of mmea)

When Edi Amin hosted a hundred of Israeli hostage in Uganda, Israel special forces already started a mocking training to save their citizen back in hometown from day one....

I wonder if Malaysian special forces did the same thing...? The number of total Malaysian is much smaller .... Could we secretly fly to North Korea and take them back safely?

USA Seal did killed Osama secretly deep into Pakistan border.....

During US embassy hostage crisis in IRAN, President Carter secretly ask USA forces to sneak into IRAN with 12 helicopter..... But the mission failed, and cost him Presidential seat...................xxxxx

different situation...
malaysians there are not under siege..its not really a hostage situation..

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Mar 15 2017, 07:38 AM)
Agreed. I believe RAW numbers should at least be at par with regular units.

Also, is it really that advantageous to have long service terms, up to 20+ years? IMHO ATM should reduce fixed service terms to around 10 years, but at the same time make easier to extend service contract. I think that period is enough to train and professionalize the enlisted men and junior officers, but still can keep the military age average down (war is a young man's game) and at the same time, keep the really old-timer professional hands if you need them. These types of people will usually re-enlist when they can anyway.
*
For 'lain-lain pangkat(llp)'their retirement is based on duration of service, not the age... Their initial service contract is 12 years and can be extended until 15 years, 18 years or 21 years based on several criteria. Only who'd served for 21 years will receive a pension

for officer the retirement age is based on age
-captain and below - 45 years
- mejar - 50 years
- liutenant colonel - 52 years
- colonel and special officer (eg. doctors) - 55 years

so,if youre stuck at the a captain rank at the age of 45,you'll be forced to retire.

This is 10 years ago info based on Akta Angkatan Tentera... Its probably already changed/amended now...

The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency today received its first New Generation Patrol Craft (NGPC) during its naming and launching ceremony, officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife.

Named KM Bagan Datuk, the first of six NGPCs ordered by MMEA under a RM381.3m total worth contract in 2015, will be the largest, fastest and most sophisticated vessel to enter the enforcement agency's fleet.
