nice pics, about the strawberries, you should do something with it first so that it would look more..."lively"... like spraying some water on it or even just a few drops of water on the strawberry that you focus. just my opinion.

I shot using BULB mode, ISO100, f14, Manual focus to infinty.

Hold down the shutter button to start capture and release it after the firework flare is gone. I normally hold up to 4-8 seconds to capture one shot, depends on how bright the firework is. If you have release cable or IR remote would be much better.

Hope this help.

A lil bit of vigenneting with the lens?
Or is it on purpose?

If the weather is better, it would be much better i think

sooyewguan, I really envy you can snap such fantastic photos! I myself is hoping to get a D80 also but still not sure the kit lens is worth the money.

For the sea gull pictures, are you using the max focal length, 135mm and handheld as well? If at max focal length, it seems like it is not very handshake prone?

Thanks, but I am still new in photography. The kit lens is good for learning since other lens are quite expensive.

The seagull is shooting in 135mm and handheld (need to chase the bird rclxub.gif ). Well many turn out to be out off focus because these birds are really fast and the kit len focusing speed is bit slow.

135mm? they must be really close to you. These birds are always found near the shores, and I've had hard time filling them in my frame even @ 200mm sweat.gif I think I need to find some that's more friendly and stay on the ground hehe btw, the pix will be nicer if you cover them to black and white, and increase some exposure.

Initially I was thinking to get a 18-55mm, F3.5 - 5.6 for its low price, but after seeing your seagull pictures which are so sharp, I think I may change my mind.

(Or is it your good skill the one matters instead of the lens? tongue.gif )

18-55mm? 18-70mm? 18-135mm? rclxub.gif

it depends on requirement, if you need to shoot a lot of long distance shots... get the 18-135mm

if not, 18-70mm should be better than 18-55mm

Wow another one! While the compo on the model is good, the pics are too warm instead. On vivid mode perhaps??? sweat.gif My other comment is while the exposure and WB for the new jazz is good, the compo can be better instead. How about snapping the whole car instead?

Still thanks for sharing! Hope to see more pics frm the tokyo motorshow! notworthy.gif

Thanks for all the comments.

Only things I dun quite understand is 'vivid' ? Is it good to have "vivid photo" or bad ? I was using vivid mode in my camera for all photo above, should I use others setting for such events ?

Well vivid is a setting to make colors looked more vibrant and stronger. Works best with landscape pics but best to avoid while taking pics of ppl. I used to love using vivid until in some ways the skin color of the ppl i took went quite warm qhich is not right.

In the meantime, its okay to use vivid to take pics of cars, which shows the more stronger colors of ur pics. But just take note not to use vivid while taking pics of people/models. That is based from my experience as well, still learning btw. sweat.gif
