this is too general. should compare the tyre range, rather than brand. falken and toyo both on mid-range list? many toyo should be on premium and many falken should be on budget range. also, goodyear and continental both make a lot of mid and economy tyres.

Let me clarify one thing.

The quality of the tyre from certain brand is depending on the rubber type that they use.

For example Bridgestone using B449 Compound (just to name one)
And Michelin using ML16840, Kumho using 1307 and so on.

Of course not all type of tyre using the compound that i stated earlier.

and basically the list that ts said on the first post is right.

My company (that im working) even have customer name PT Elang Perdana, PT Industri, Siam Truck Radial, Apollo, Bridgestone, Michelin, Hankook, Sumitomo, Hankook, PT Gajah and so on.

For me brand is one thing la

But most important to buy fresh tyre. Bcoz rubber age is important.

check the date come out from factory

shop like to clear stock, say january stock, sell in december, that almost a year old. Thats y can see new tyre crack

Kind of vague though the brand of tyres. Bridgestone Ecopia is loathed by many for the reason of, "low quality and cheap" Goodyear's Duraplus for the same reason.

Unless it's broken down to the models, then maybe people will be able to know what they want and what's the price....I guess lah.

inmy experience, duraplus is actually decent for its class la, the most impressive of this tyre is the treath life, lastede almost 70k km, grip is decent but not spectacular, but one thing dont like is that it is noisy.

I am using viking atm, and it's actually quite good. Nice grip, good traction. 13", so it's pretty no brainer which model it is

I agree actually. It is super durable, and it lasted me for 3 yrs+ in fact until the tyre itself became hard.(

just for sharing purposes.. dont bash me..

for the past 14years or so of owning a car, ive tried a few tires from a few range...

goodyear nct5
neuton bidirectional (cant remember the series)
yoko c2 drive
yoko ae bluearth
michelin ps3
michelin primacy st
michelin xm2 energy
conti comfort contact
conti sport contact

my take is michelin primacy st...

it suits my driving style perfectly..
long lasting tire..
not so expensive..
relatively not so noisy....

Ya..super subjective.

Good year,
GT3: Sampah tyre
Eagle F1: Good tyre

Michelin,
XM2: Lousy tyre
Pilot Sport 4: Good tyre

How to put into perspective because each brand also got its own high end and lousy tyre types.

Cheap tire = good for daily driving on dry road with speed less than highway limit, if rain better stop and drink mamak

Bought two sportiva super 300 215/50R17 for RM434 each... Here is the story:
My car tire punctured on highway at few kilometer past Rawang towards Melaka. Two Indian mechanics 'coincidentally' passing by and offered to help. I have no choice as I have a wife and baby girl waiting beside the road in the middle of no where... they asked what tire brand I wanted to replace with, I said lets get back continental. So they took out the tires including the rims and brought back to their shop at Rawang (they claimed so) to change to the new one.
They came back with two tires with the sticker on it stating Sportiva manufactured by Continental. It was suspicious as no continental logo printed on the tire but what else I can do as I am in the middle of no where and wanting the rescue desperately. So I just made the payment through online transfer on the spot using mobile phone as I didn't have over 1k cash with me.
Along with the tires cost, the workmanship was RM160 and transportation fee was RM180. Totaling to RM1208.

Anyone know how much the Sportiva super 300 215/50R17 actually cost?

Exploded ? Dangerous.

1. What Goodyear model was it ?
2. Tyre manufactured when ?
3. Tyre pressure applied ?
4. What speed were you traveling ?
5. Was the tyre still with thread or without ?
6. Was it dry or wet condition when tyre burst ?

Do you remember hitting anything which may have damage the tyre substantially or grazing the tyre which could have impede its performance ?

Like grazing the curb or low barriers or perhaps did you bump into something before the explosion ?

there are times we dont even know the air we pump from the petrol stations are truly accurate.. sometimes its just faulty and they dont fix it, end up we overpump air into the tyres..

i encounter once while the tyre shop ppl told me i overpump air into my front tyres.. luckily they didnt burst...

It takes a lot a lot a lot of air to overpump a tyre right?

Usually sidewall got write, do not pump over for example 51psi on my tyre.. hmm.gif pump 35-36 already bumpy wor

That's correct as well there is why you need a tyre gauge to check the pressure again the next day before driving.

For a properly constructed tyre, over inflating will not cause it to burst but bulge instead as the tyre is heated up by friction the air inside expands. The expansion will then force or rather find a weak spot in the construction to form a swell.

Strike's tyre was a new Goodyear the most 2 years at best. As for Goodyear my parents have used them and now I myself am using them for years. No explosion 💥 whatsoever with Goodyear, so Strikes post got my attention really good.

I have inspected other cases of blown out tyres but those are inferior quality tyres. I remember inspecting a blown out tyre at the petrol station. New car just received a month ago and the tyre blew just blew out ! Visual inspection of the tyre looks really good but the side walls just failed to hold up ???

The owner was furious. The car looks very clean and well taken of. So I suspect the owner is careful but when questioned further he said he might have grazed the side walls accidentallly.

you need to take in heat factor , generated from road friction, weather and braking. air pressure will increase by heat.

nitrogen filled tyres give u more stability in pressure. it still expands from heat, but maybe slower rate than air pump.

performance wise not rly obvious. normal pump u ardy got 78% of nitrogen.

Thanks for the list.

Can't get the name LingLong out of my mind since I first saw it a few years ago.

And, many years ago I saw a guy using an electric heater cutter to deepen the grooves of a used tyre. Shocked. Till today, dare not use used tyre. A rethreaded / celup one is even better.

Test drove office car which had Viking tyre, not sure which model.
But when heavy rain, the car was struggling with aquaplaning even though it is a brand new tyre.
