(Note: This method only tested in Windows XP. Not sure about this tip can be work on other version of Windows or nop, however you may try for it if you like to.)
How to do it?
Step 1: Go to Start > run > type "diskpart". A dos command prompt window will appear with following discription.
DISKPART>
Step 2: Key in "list volume". A list of available drive information will be display as below.
Volume### Ltr Label Fs Type Size Status Info
----- -- -- - -- -- --- --
Volume 0 E CD-ROM
Volume 1 F DVD-ROM
Volume 2 C NTFS Partition 19GB Healthy
Volume 3 D FAT32 Partition 19GB Healthy
Step 3: Let say, you want to hide the drive D, then you key in "select volume 3″. A message will appear as [Volume 3 is the selected volume]
Step 4: Is time to hide it, key in " remove letter D". A message will come out as [Diskpart Removed the Drive letter]. (Note: sometime, you may need to reboot your PC.
Finally, the specify drive was invisible. Why? It is because Windows XP is unable to identify the unkown volume.
Will my data gone? Don't worry about it. All you data still remain in the same drive.
How to enable back your drive? Just follow the same steps until step no. 4, replace the "remove letter D" to "assign letter D".
