In the first technique, around 3:20 mins of the video. He said using the fleshy part of the palm to slap the strings to have a 'mute sound', but when I use the fleshy part that he suggested, there is no 'mute' sound coming out, but when I use the fleshy part of the palm that is around my thumb there, i can slap normally. What is the problem??

hit harder, until the strings hit / slap against the fretboard at the higher frets there.

could it be the action is too high? i tried it on different guitars... all have different outcome based on the action height
