Old news, and wrong place to post your gloating too. Try the Xbox section. 1080p PS3 games? Try Ridge Racer 7, and the newly released Virtua Fighter 5. You are treading on hot water, friend. Or a slippery slope, take your pick. BTW, Ridge Racer 7 was 1080, from Day 1, without the need for any superfluous updates that the 360 needs to go 1080p. You didnt hear the Sony folks making a big fuss about that like you did here now, do you? 1080p games only NOW? Pffffttt, the PS3 had them since launch. Get with the program! Or get updated at the very least! This post has been edited by stringfellow: Feb 9 2007, 03:35 AM

Onward with the defense brigade! The house is still burning down though! Careful it's shamefully hot! I could go on XNA, be an independent dev. and develop my version of Table Tennis/Pong with the XNA license and develop it at 1080p native, and release it on DVDs for 360. Would that make me your hero? It's fun isnt it? God, i have tears rolling down my cheeks now!

Have you even heard of the concept where games are developed 720p native and the game devs uses the hardware internal scalers to enable other resolutions for the game, and slap it as 1080p enabled?? Big deal if it goes 1080p now, if it goes by that trick! God, you're dense!

Is there a feature in LYN forums that you can SAVE a thread for later references? I'd PAY Se7en RM100 on the spot for that feature right now! Added on February 9, 2007, 4:15 amDEflect, deflect! There are still embers within the dying inferno! Zen is what the thread like until the other camp sieged it with its rather klutzy targeting mechanism. Dont blame the other party when you started the fire first, and end up burning you own house! This post has been edited by stringfellow: Feb 9 2007, 04:15 AM

QUOTE(eone @ Feb 9 2007, 08:38 AM) wut is it all about? i lost after 3 - 4 post Our threadstarter was getting overzealous about his crusade to downplay Bluray, and apparently an article caught his eye. An article about how 1080p games are now available for Xbox 360, and cheekily(or rather stupidly) asking if there are 1080p games on Bluray/PS3. Little did he know that the PS3 has been doing that since DAY 1 for games like Ridge Racer 7! The rest are his futile attempt at dousing the flames of his own homemade fire. Simply put, PWNED! He simply thinks that the same rules on movies (1080p on Bluray/HD-DVD) also applies when it comes to console games. Little that he know that 1080p on consoles has nothing to do with storage media, be it DVD, Bluray or HD-DVD, but it is a function of what the console can output. So, his stupid attempt to downplay Bluray this way, quickly and immediately , brought him this "virtual shame". This only way out of this was to try and make do with what he can and make light out of the situation by turning it into a comedy of sorts. Which does not negate the fact that his overzealousness to downplay and make Bluray look bad, had instead made him look like an idiot himself! I think that sums it up pretty nicely.

QUOTE(rx330 @ Feb 9 2007, 03:53 PM) hmmm, tat sounded harsh why make a mountain out of it? cool it la QUOTE(SHAFT111 @ Feb 9 2007, 04:31 PM) Your points are well made String but p'has too harsh on threadstarter You will see my points are justified once you see his enthusiasm to put down bluray every single chance he has, and overglorifying his HD-DVD God, all this while.....guess what? He does not even have the hardware in which his "glorious" format runs upon, to draw conclusions from. All his opinions are from forum posts, articles and similar conjectures. Wouldnt it be better to have seen both formats running before your eyes, and then draw your conclusions, than going by teh intarweb speak and talk? That's biasness at its best, IMO.

They are 1080p but in analog, Bluray on PS3 via HDMI is digital. Some say there is little to no differences, but on larger screen with capable players, the differences are apparent.
In essence, you can go 1080p via component or HDMI, these connections just means that you are delivering the content digitally or analog.

On a 40 inch screen, it should be negligible. I can only get 1080i on mine on component, the Bravia X only allows 1080p via HDMI.
HDMI is not just about Image Quality (IQ), it is also about ease of installation, HMDI carries both the audio and video data through a single connection, so you dont have maggi-mee-like setup, with component wires running to your TV and optical cable running to your receiver, a single HDMI cable does that neatly.

QUOTE(g5sim @ Feb 11 2007, 06:51 AM) so PS3 -(HDMI A/V)- receiver----- TV. A HDMI receiver nevertheless .. How do one do that, all this while --- i see one input for one source. Can some please enlighten us on displays/receivers that are capable to separating the audio/video source from one input simultanously and output the audio/video separately ? WTF! You call yourself an AV enthusiast and you dont even know about HDMI passthrough? Get out more, visit more AV stores and look at their offerings, rather than spewing your HDDVD prophetic agenda , holding faith blindly on things you hardly have any grasp on. Can this joke character get any more pathetic? There is no big enough ROLLEYES emoticon for you, buddy.

Same case with the other HD players. You can connect the XA2 to a crappy 14incher on 480i, and have sound coming out from the TV speakers, or use HDMI for the same thing you need with the PS3. What's your point? Idiotic response. And hate to break this to you, but HDMI receivers are not Sony's forte, be a alittle well-informed on that before you make a fool of yourself again. So , to enjoy the PS3, u say consumer needs to get a 1080p capable HDTV and an HDMI receiver to fully enjoy it. Does your godlike HDDVD players require any less to fully enjoy them too? For the record, quite a few of us here, especially those who had come to the HDDVD/Bluray playtest have witness both formats firsthand, and able to articulate and opiniate ourselves which format we prefer. Believe it or not, a lot of us prefer the interactivity aspect of HDDVD, but a lot liked Bluray for its own strengths as well. That was what the consensus at that playtest. I BELIEVE YOU, G5SIM ARE ONLY SPEWING YOUR PREACHINGS HERE WITHOUT EVEN HAVING WITNESSED BOTH FORMATS IN ACTION, BUT RATHER GOING ON CONJECTURES AND PERSONAL BIAS. That alone, says a lot about your standings in all this. This post has been edited by stringfellow: Feb 12 2007, 06:26 AM
