Hi all, I've visit the webe website, researched and read through all the details but just in case I'm missing something out, I'd like to confirm them here.

Currently I'm using Streamyx 512Kbps and paying about RM70/month. Reason I'm looking at webe is because the current RM79 price is almost the same as what I'm paying right now.

My question and why I'm considering webe:-

1. Is webe available at this address (93250 Kuching Sarawak)? I've look on the coverage page but it's hard to tell (there's no indicator or I'm the one colour blind). From what I saw, it seems like 3G is available but 4G is not. Can anyone confirm? I hope it can at least have 3G. I don't care much about 4G. (because even 3G is faster than my current Streamyx now).

2. I don't stream video from internet like those iflix or netflix thingy. Even youtube also I don't frequent.

3. I don't download stuff like P2P or torrent. The only time I use huge data is to update my Windows 10 and MS Office.

4. Will it work on my laptop built in mobile broadband (it's a Dell Broadband Mini Card something2)? Previously got 1 time I have subscribed to Maxis mobile broadband and I can insert the SIM into my laptop slot and it worked so I'm wondering if this webe can work on that or not? Or do I need to buy a new 3G modem dongle? Or does webe only work on the certified phone like they said in their website? (Reminder again: I only need the 3G).

5. I don't plan to share the internet or tether (it's my laptop and I don't think it/the 3G card can tether anyway). No else is using internet except me. Basically, what I want is for this webe to replace my current Streamyx for fast web surfing. Even surfing LYN or rotikaya like that I will have to wait for the site to load ~ 15s - 30mins. (I've experienced my friend UNIFI, almost all website load in an instant).

6. I don't play games online (MMO/MOBA/shooter) so I don't care about ping and what not.

I understand that using wireless internet sometimes the line not so stable but I prefer my internet to be fast so that I can do things and be done faster rather than stable but have to wait and wait and wait for things to get done. And I don't mind if once in a while webe line down. I can still tether from my phone if really urgent.

So any question above if anyone got answer please do reply. Thanks very much.

Thanks GameSky. Per your reply:-

7th mile? If so, only Celcom 3G.. my friend using it now.. speed is obviously better than your 512Kbps streamyx.
Not 7th mile. It's between Jalan Stephen Yong and MJC there. I check again I think got coverage la for 3G (white means totally no coverage).

Other things are not very big concern to me. I guess I'll just try it now. The price is too tempting. If I'm not satisfied then I'll just terminate later on.

mayang, yes my laptop only support 3G. Even my area (or Kuching generally) is not fully 4G covered so there's no need for that. I've tried Celcom 3G and Maxis 3G on my laptop before. Both have gave me quite stable 3-5Mbps speed whenever I used them which is already enough and much2 better than my current 512Kbps.

Wow this is getting more confusing.. Yes Desa Wira. So you mean in Desa Wira I cannot use webe even the simplest most basic 3G? I look for LTE definition here (http://www.ianswerguy.com/what-is-3g-4g-lte/), LTE is true 4G, while 4G without mentioning LTE is just a better more improved 3G (amirite?).

So finally received my sim today. Popped it into my laptop sim slot, turn on my mobile connection software and it shows there CELCOM and then a big R (which stands for roaming). I click connect then it says I will be charged higher (?) due to roaming. But it can connect and I can use it to surf. I somehow don't need to do the APN setting as instructed.

I never once in my life use any roaming thing. I never go oversea sad.gif . I only know it like that which is will be activated when local sim is used oversea. Will I see extra charges in my bill later?

I searched further and found the following:-
1. I go to webe web and see it says there roaming is RM39/day.
2. At the beginning of this thread, it says "and it has roaming 2G/3G agreement with celcom". So is this roaming the free kind? I don't know if such thing exist... confused.gif
3. I look at past webe thread (V1) and somebody mention DR (domestic roaming). Again, is this same as point no. 2?

Please help..I don't want kena charge RM39/day. I put the sim into my 3G phone also can connect and surf but also with the roaming sign.

For reminder again, my location is 93250 Kuching Sarawak (Desa Wira, somewhere between Jln Stephen Yong & MJC).

Hi. The speed for me is ok. Varies between 2Mbps and 4Mbps. I'm not a downloader but just now I test the max it can sustain is 400-500Kbps. Though occasionally it did dc or drop until 40-50Kbps. I've been using for 12hr straight and I get that twice today. But considering my area is far from town and it has to roam via celcom, the speed is more than enough for me.

I'm at Desa Wira. That day I go to those area like Lovelyland and Janting still got 3G line. I assume if got 3G then 2G should also got. But 4G totally don't have. That webe coverage map very difficult to view (I don't know what color means got coverage).

Even though I'm Batu Kawa people I never go Syn San Too there tongue.gif . If you really want 4G then I guess just forget about webe for now (which means you don't need to buy new 4G band 5 phone). But if you want the 3G only and maybe the calls and sms (I haven't try, I use data only for now), then maybe just use your existing 3G phone. I'm not sure it will work in your area or not even though it roam to celcom. I know the area until Moyan Square and Malihah there the celcom line very strong and got 3G too. Can't guarantee you anything but I'd suggest you just wait first smile.gif
