It is not fake, speedtest uses local route in Malaysia to test your network speed. But Fast.net uses international route to test your network speed. Both Speedtest and Fast.net result are accurate.

But in Malaysia our internet traffic comes from international route from USA and other countries. Most streaming and websites contents comes form outside our country.

Internet Service Provider,ISP normally choose the cheapest route to forward Internet traffic to save cost. This cheap routes usually does not have the best performance,ping and latency. So when you use a VPN connection you bypass this cheap routes and forward your internet traffic through the VPN providers route.
