I ordered my sim card, cannot drop to receptionist. reschedule delivery to next day when I'm around. no issue.

there is no bill upon signup. first bill on 1st of the month.

inside self care, you can see the current unbilled amount, which is actually the prorated charges since the day you sign up until 31 Dec. then full bill come on 1 Jan with advance monthly fee + unbilled charges (prorated monthly fee + additional usages)

at registration portal, you will need to pay upfront payment (rm106 for mobile, rm53 for broadband) + foreigner deposit (rm300 for mobile, rm100 for broadband).

this is just upfront payment need to be paid upon registration.

once first bill come, you will see the upfront payment will knock off outstanding.

foreigner deposit will stay in deposit bucket, untouched. only refundable upon termination.

dont think that's possible for webe. not sure if other telco can do such.

however, there is possibility to do so.

register now with new number. get the promo rm79 forever.

future, port-in the number to webe as well. now u got 2 lines with webe.

ask webe cs to perform number swapping between the 2 lines. not sure la, but i think this will work since 2 numbers are managed by webe.


your suggestion, 1 with webe, 1 with other telco, unlikely can do so since mnp doesnt allow you to port-in to replace existing webe number.


p/s: if you're worried about rm79 promo "ending" 31 Dec, dont worry. it will be extended this is just a scare tactic

domestic roaming to Celcom network.

this is wireless broadband, there are a lot of factors affecting the speed.

afaik, there's no throttling for ddl. i massively download, no noticeable speed degradation, except different time of day yields different speed (due to traffic, congestion, etc)

promo 79 seems to be more popular than earlier rm199-rm60-rm60 discount model. who on earth thought about these discounts model really a robot.

cny coming soon. i foresee they would extend promo 79 till cny. it make sense commercially as the new telco need more subscribers number.


another thing. unlimited quota/everything wiill not work forever to ANY telco. bleeding money kawkaw. one fine day, they will take away unlimited everything.

online is better, easier, and register pay online, then wait for delivery (if early, you might get it same-day in the afternoon/evening); if reg later get it the next day)

there are few selected TM Points allow reg but not sure if there's one in kuching. try the webe webchat to ask for location of these tmpoints.

register online at home, the select pick-up at store. choose the tmp batu lintang.

then go there to pickup the sim card.

if you still dont put in and use, once the delivery guy go back to office, the order will be closed (completed delivery) and will also auto-activate the SIM.

very unlikely for webe mobile customers. the sim card cannot work with tmgo+mifi/fwt. the usb dongle already obsolete and not many tmpoints having stocks

if webe broadband, probably tm trying to upsell their tmgo+mifi/fwt, because webe broadband sim has no tethering restriction. just limited quota.


for band 5, best external modem would be tmgo's usb dongle, D-Link DWM-221 which has customized TM firmware to support band 5/850Mhz. even the firmware version is v2.0.7TM

-GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz

problem with band 5 is slow throughput, as high as 15-20mbps only, not more. i'm averaging 2-3mbps only. 15-20mbps when i'm at pyramid.

good thing is this modem supports FDD-LTE 2600Mhz, which is compatible with maxis/digi/celcom/umobile 4G LTE


next modem that i could think of is Huawei E3276s-920

* 4G Band 38/40 (TDD 2300/2600MHz)
* 3G UMTS/HSPA+ 900/2100MHz
* GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz

it doesnt support band 5, but supporting band 38/40 which is the faster throughput by webe. band 38/40 is rolling out slowly, and some of fellow users here can achieve >50mbps speed and possibly more if nearby basestation or less traffic.

getting this modem is like finding a unicorn in malaysia. i dare not to try sourcing it from taobao/aliexpress/ebay/lelong/etc.

cheapest i found is from aliexpress, selling at US $37.99 or about RM170.40. havent taken into account other fees, probably.

assuming you have cleared your outstanding with celcom or no issues with them, mnp process is fast, usually within a day or two.


hope celcom or other telcos not doing hankypanky tricks (a well known issue), since now ending 2016/end Q4, they will do tricks to fail your mnp. purpose is to make you stay as their customer for reporting purposes.

autobill kicks in about 5 days after bill date (1st of the month)

coming 1st Jan, you can view your PDF in self care. then check the charges.

so far, it's clean for me. no funny charges or charges since webe mobile has simpler plan. i guess webe broadband even simpler since it is a straightforward rm59 plan.
