i seperate at 6 weeks usually. Coz I will intro the male pups to my male clan, easier for them to accept younger pups. If you are just seperating all the male siblings away from the mum you can wait longer la, but not longer than 10 weeks... sometimes they might mate with the mum if the dad is not around when they reach that age.

Hahaha... spotteds are hard to come by since it is very few in litters... so most breeders would sell expensive or have very few to offer. Spotted gerbils are really nice hahahah...

erm, i mean.. she doesnt put one of her pups in the hide house (aroma burner).. i dont know where she hides it.. i tried to find it under the bedding, but didnt get it.. at the next day, i found that all pups still available.. the one that "lost" also there..

where is it actually?? is it the mom puts it under the bedding?? but why i didnt find it??

You asked about Sp... the price varies upon markings and colour... for us breeders lah, petshops you will rarely find Sp... anyway... price is around RM30 to Rm40.

Yes, the mother hides her pups. They will never place the pup in the burner since it is not what they like. Gerbils are burrowers so they normally in the wild will make nest that is underground.... since we keep them in captivity, we use woodshavings and it is not enough to make burrows. To let them tunnle and make a nest, you have to give about 10 inches of woodshavings mixed with shredded paper and hay. But if you do this, you will only get to see the gerbil pups when they are weaned and have the courage to come up to the surface of the woodshavings.

The gerbils we keep, if we put only 1 or 2 inches of woodshavings of course they cannot build such tunnles so in order to hide their babies they just bury them. Normally you should not put any burner or wooden house into the tank since it is a very dangerous time. If the mother were to kick the pup under the burner, it can suffocate and die.... well, it happened to one of my pups that was under a friend's care and the pup already open eyes and was 4 weeks old... so imagine, already 4 week old and the pup can die.... so better be careful lah.

Wah... what type of bottle? If they destroy bottles that you hang inside, maybe it is time for you to burn holes to place bottle from the outside.... hehehe... coz happened to me... 2 bottles gone so 3rd bottle is outside.

Mine destroyed another bottle last week too. Some of my bottles I put a wir emesh cover for it so they cant chew at the bottle, but some of mine tend to hang on the bottle and shake it, then all the water comes out, haha...so notty

The plastic type we used to see in petshops lor... I don't want to burn holes ler, sakit hati to do that... lol

Yea, going to try Jas's way. Actually I wanted to try it long time ago but not free...

not easy to do the wire mesh cover for the bottle though...took quite some time n some poked fingers from the mesh edges..haha..the problem is making the cover "sharp edges" free..coz the ends of the wire mesh will poke out..then hav to bend it one by one
