Ah.... coz I read in the UK forum on what Ed said..... ok, I guess I can try and do mottled as well.... now this pied is my 2nd generation. I know getting the mottled is gonna be long but I guess can try heheheh.

Now got pied Black and pied Argente Cream that are both very nice.... too bad can't pair since both males so I got a spotted argente cream female, I think can try.... Very hard to get good pied loh but I will continue breeding to get back the pied.

Now I got 2 PEW babies.... 1 or both of them should be sp or pied.... but too bad dunno since all white

There is chance the PEW got sp coz parents are both sp.... ok colours.... sp dove with sp argente, pups are 1st litter the pups only 1 pied argente cream and 1 lilac, 2nd litter 2 pied and 1 sp argente cream... now the 3rd litter got 2 pew, 1 nutmeg and 1 sp black.

Now wanna focus to get better pieds. Also really really pray for a fox.... ahaha... still only got 1 red fox and the yellow fox dad....

Oh wait, I mistake... ish... coz I got 2 females mate with he same male. Both in same tank and they feed each other's babies so I confuse just now hahahah...

It's sp black with sp dove.... but I find it weird as to why got PEW.... my female is Stormy's daughter... her dad was DEH but she got Pp?

I got DEH Pp female.... but her brother is the Fox and her dad is Fox.... inbreed?

Yah lah. That is the joy of breeding. So breeding do have its pros and cons.... and yes, we will always have a supply of gerbils so this is why we also say people should think about breeding gerbils first before doing so.

ok, Stormy is the Pied black from PW.... I breed her with Cappuccino, male DEH that is PP.... Stormy I don't know she got PP or Pp since I cannot trace her background coz petshop stock. Her babies were all spotted black and 1 agouti. I keep one baby, name her Junior.

Junior breed with Silver, my Pied dove from you know where lah.... babies came out 1 nutmeg, 1 spotted black and 2 white babies. This is her 2nd litter. Her 1st litter only got 2 pied black babies. I'm now wondering where her Pp come from, maybe from PW line but white babies? PEW or REW? Hahahah.... makes me excited only. I think Junior could be aaCchDDEeGGPp and Silver could be aaCchDDEeGGpp... maybe this is why I got white pups.

Nescafe is black, Chokee is yellow fox, breed 3 times already but only got 1 red fox male. I was thinking of out sourcing a female that is compatible with Red... hehehe....

I was thinking of taking back a pied black to breed with Red.... coz I don't have much females for Red.... I won't want to inbreed Chokee since he got some allergy problems and I think it will be worst if breed back to him. The pied black would be Junior's and Silver's daughter.

Yah, I got a nutmeg girl and DEH girl that is the sisters to the red fox.... the deh is quite light coz of the Ch.... I think when it grows older, will be paler than Summer.

LOL..... we have finally spread the gerbil disease hahaha.... later all go colour crazy and want all the available colours. Then we will have colour clans.

That will surely happen.... it happens to all animals in the pet trade.... this is why must control but then so hard to control unless those who wanna breed sign a contract.... well, this must happen soon loh... Also petshops must never start getting stock since this will make them breed commercially like crazy.... like the Summit's Zara Petshop...

Yups. Coz for me, I don't mind people taking my gerbils to breed but it must be under my terms and conditions.... I got a long list conditions that I think scared away some people hahah.... but yes, there must be controlled breeding. The best is single sex pairs.... no need to worry about space, no need to worry about the number of offsprings, no need to worry about high expenses from breeding.

True... but as hobbyist, we must make sure none go to petshops.... sometimes I do have the urge to place them at petshops.... but now only to 1 petshop hahahh.... but as display gerbils only. My number is placed on the tank for people to contact so it is quite good in a way, getting direct from me but my gerbils do advertising in the shop.

Petshop stock.... well.... from what I heard, Pudu, Sunway, Petaling Street and PJ got... but then how good is the quality? The one at Petaling Street are really scary, so timid that you can't even catch.... So hobbyist looks more on to quality while petshops are more on quantity.... want money mah.

Prelude's gerbils are weird.... I give them choy sum... and they go and sleep on the choy sum instead of eating it..... apalah... food become bed...

LOL.... Why people always confuse with Nutmeg and Agouti? That is not a nutmeg lah.... that is Agouti.

Always a confusion with new breeders... I also was like that when I first started... Dunno how to see Nutmeg and DEH, Agouti and mature Nutmeg....

When they are young, the Nutmeg has a deep orange, no white belly. Once it reaches 2 months, you will see the nutmeg change colour.... damn funny... wait, I link picture for you guys to see Nutmeg in molting process LOL.

Hahaha... tyre marks.... now when it matures, it will turn into that dark colour.... the nice bright orange will fade.

Harry Hamster and Prestige now available in Taman Melawati..... Go to a shop called Pet Epicure.... my friend's shop. HAhaha.... if you go there, can see 4 of my gerbils there.

You can always ask someone to post laju it. Or get a shop to help you ship it.

The gerbils could be small size.... so you must be extra careful. Some websites say separate at 6 weeks but I believe separation at 8 weeks old.... some of my gerbils get separated from their moms at 3 months old, lagi keng LOL.... longer but then they learn better. why we want them to be with their mom till 8 weeks is because that they need to learn how to be gerbils from their moms. At 5 weeks normally they start to wean off milk and nibble food. 6 weeks old already eating solids but the extra 2 weeks is crucial. Bring them back to the breeder.... but if you still insist on caring for them then you have to increase their protein intake. 1 mealworm won't be enough. Give a few as well as introduce crickets into their diet. Include fresh foods such as leafy vegetables and fruits like Apple.

Habitrail won't give as much nutrients as Prestige.... if you do not mind, then go to Pet Lovers Center Singapore's website, mail order your stock. It will be a few RM more expensive but it beats coming all the way to KL to buy. There are ways to get Prestige or Harry Hamster.... just see how determine only.

Don't hide away, everyone makes mistakes... I have made so many mistakes already but I do not hide away....

Foo is Extremely concern about the gerbil lines now.... that is why she gets angry when got people wrongly sex or give wrong colours.... I know people like to breed.... if you got a good reason like to create more gerbils available in a particular place or producing more of a particular colour or getting a new colour then yah, go ahead but look at the pros and cons first... I already did my best to advice basic knowledge to my buyers, their responsibility is to read up more on breeding and genetics if they want to breed but they must get permission from me lah....
Ai, in this world we cannot always be spoon fed.... so far, I have not seen people keen on studying the genetics for themselves... but prefer to be told.... hahah... sometimes I also like that but only on rare occasions.

In a clan, sure 1 out of all will be the smallest.... normal loh heheheh... coz they have a hierachy, the smallest can be the one not eating most of the food.... same with hamsters.

I think Hao train them like how a lion tamer at circus do, use whip and a chair hahaha.... LOL... I can imagine it now.... wahahahah....
