The weekend data solely on 4G is very scary.
Suddenly while using, it dropped to 3G, then it will eat up the all day data.

Should be ok actually. Other telcos may not have 4g network everywhere. But maxis 4g is no 1 among all telcos in bolehland. Dun see a problem with it. Some more the all day data is not little either since it has been doubled too.

From 5gb now maxis gives extra 15gb in total. 4 times data now compare to the past. It is very generous already. To maxis customer. It is already a blessing.

actually this is my main concern too.

my new place has spotty maxis coverage/signal strength due to high-rise. intermittently dropped to 3g wan.

if weekend syioksyiok downloading at 4g, suddenly drop to 3g, mati habis quota bangwall.gif

i don't know about this, but if their hotlink fast prepaid with their free 8gb weekend data is any indication, it won't eat your daily data

If your 4G connection is good, then no problem. What if your 4G connection is not good, it drops to 3G?

Anyway for Hotlink, the weekend data is for 4G or any speed?

outdoor can easily get maxis 4g signal, I dun see a problem there.

like I said, if u are using 5gb maxis one. This extra 15gb is a bonus.

if u are new to maxis, then it is up to u to decide if it suits u or not. cool2.gif

Should have another lower plan that caters for the lighter casual users.

Was hoping to see a MOP68 with 5GB + 5GB plan, or at least in the near future.

Sure the ARPU will fall but isn't recapturing the title of the being the largest telco in terms of subscriber base something to achieve again?

The ARPU will also be lower in the next quarter as I believe many will be on the MOP98 instead of MOP128.

not necessary, depend on their group strategy kot.

going for MOP68, they are diluting their revenue stream as well and probably internal cannibalization as well. by setting min MOP98, they can ensure steady stream of revenue >RM100 bracket (MOP stream).

don't think maxis would introduce MOP68 anytime soon..

it's not their strategy to aim lower group, but high end users.. I remember reading them somewhere..

Even with no 10gb weekend data, 10gb anytime data is actually more than enough for most ppl also actually.

If one can survive with 5gb on the existing maxis one plan, I dun see a reason that one cannot survive especially now with 3x extra data. biggrin.gif

Sign up the maxis one 98 by doing MNP at maxis centre just now. Very efficient. 5 mins got the SIM card and all settled.

Now just need to wait till Celcom side release my line. Hope they do not try to do anything funny. hmm.gif

Maxis Sufmore 75, the legacy plan that is with me for so long, although a bit can't bare to cancel it, but no choice, since maxis one 98 alone already can fulfill all my needs. And in this case, I will save rm88 in total per mth by keeping just one line.

Before 24 nov, if I cancel the remaining Celcom first basic 38. Then will be fully on one line. biggrin.gif

Hi christina1,

The data usage still deduct the 4G Weekend quota if you hook to 4G++. For network other than 4G/4G+, data will be utilized from the Datapool.

Thank you.

the yonder nothing worthwhile even it is free. Library is way too poor. no point.

Celcom one has a lot of restriction too.
No unlimited sms, one weekend is limited to 2.5gb instead of 10gb to be shared anytime during weekend.
termination they will charge one full month subscription instead of prorated no matter which date u cancel before the next billing date.

No point to sign those non flagship telco plan, if u want, the best alternative should be Celcom already,

Maxis (no 1) + Celcom (no 2) confirm no need to worry no coverage.

But celcom don't hv cheap plan right ?
Cos if I go for tunetalk, I can opt for rm28 a year validity.
So when I need data plan, then only I top up...else day I just remain rm0

No cheap plan for Celcom.

Like this seriously, just maintain one maxis line is enough Liao. I used to have 2 x Celcom plan and 1 x maxis, I can utilize 80% and above of the data per month as last time the plan has lesser bundled data. After maxis upgraded for extra 2gb, Celcom added in extra 15gb. Seriously I become purposely trying to use the data just for the sake to finish up the data bundled which this make it be pointless.

Last time I keep two telcos lines for redundancy purpose also.

After the free upgrade from telcos for the 10gb + 10gb that costs purely rm80 to maximum rm98 already can get 20gb in total.more than sufficient for one person.

That's why I decided to go one eventually.

the yonder nothing worthwhile even it is free.

*
If compare to spotify yonder is not that good, but at least better than nothing.
Yeah, no more unlimited sms sad. They replaced with the unlimited social apps....

For the weekend, now can combine into all day usage. Guess no one care for the allocation anymore.

QUOTE(stevenlee @ Nov 13 2016, 04:43 PM)
But celcom don't hv cheap plan right ?
Cos if I go for tunetalk, I can opt for rm28 a year validity.
So when I need data plan, then only I top up...else day I just remain rm0
while celcom don't hv this a year validity
*
Cheapest postpaid from celcom is first blue rm45... but no upgrade for the plan...

To me who has used spotify and yonder before. I can say it it better to have nothing.

that one needs to add rm10 monthly, if like that might as well add rm8 to go to first gold plus got 40gb.

cheapest plan rm45 but 2gb+ 2gb is a but little, really for light user only. plus only 50 mins free call and sms. chance to exceed free call is high unless u really do not call. And it can only carry forward max 1gb. This is even worse the first basic 38. more expensive than or some more.

Last time my main is using first basic 38, but too easy to exceed the free 50 mins calls. So I end up switch to first gold 80 1.0 with unlimited smses and calls.

First gold plus is definitely better than normal first gold.

The data amounts is double of the normal first gold, but the price is only rm18 different.

No choice lo, since first 38 is no longer available... To be honest, Im more prefer first 38. blush.gif

The data usage still deduct the 4G Weekend quota if you hook to 4G++. For network other than 4G/4G+, data will be utilized from the Datapool.

Thank you.

not really if u look into it in details.

compare to other telco, their rm80 plan has no unlimited sms unless u are old first gold 80 1.0 plan. terminate plan needs to pay full month subscription instead of pro-rated. If u roam to a country that has their partner networks, even u turn off auto roaming data, it will still charge rm38 per day as long as ur mobile data is turned on. (Trap)

I take it that you aren't under WiFi coverage much in order to consume that much mobile data? I am thinking to downgrade to 98 and subscribe to Spotify and still save a some bucks from 158.

It will eat into your datapool, or your weekend 4G data. It used to have this 5GB TV Now quota but now they are still in the midst of removing this. Some people do not have this 5GB TV Now quota anymore. Those whose total data has not been upgraded should still have it, but not for long.

I take it that you aren't under WiFi coverage much in order to consume that much mobile data? I am thinking to downgrade to 98 and subscribe to Spotify and still save a some bucks from 158.

Maybe hmm.gif Because I only use mobile data since I use my first smartphone biggrin.gif

Also available on android but an Apple ID is required. USD3.99 per month which more expensive than Spotify Premium, sad to say. I quite like the quality - checking it out via the 90 day free trial now.

Apple Music has no free tier compared to Spotify, so it's 90 days of free trial with a credit card and then USD3.99 per mth after that.

Hi ace-user

Once you had finished the quota for weekend data pass, on the coming weekend, it will utilize your normal All Day quota.

siaocom always make their plan limited promo period only after that either up price or main same price but cut the benefits.

Currently my housing area dont have TM coverage.celcom coverage also not good..so willing to consider MOP 128

Question.

1) I'm new to Maxis, how to share data with my wife? Need to register new MOP? Or MOP have principal and supplimentary line?

2) Torrent downloading is good if using mobile tethering or just donwload via phone?

1. Register one main line then get your wife register maxis one share under it
2. No comment but data is limited if your torrenting.. torrent download normally consume lots of data .. i alway use direct download which is very fast using maxis

that's why, unless u are on first gold 80 1.0. else the current first gold 80 looks cheaper, but it lacks of the unlimited sms. so it is not really that cheap comparing to maxis one 98.

Actually if you look into celcom's weekend 10Gb, according to their website that 10Gb is divided over 8 weekend days, so it's only 1.25Gb per weekend day. If you dont use it's burnt, while maxis weekend is open 5,10,15,20 or 25 for ALL weekends. So looks like a better deal as i can use whenever I want.

can 'opt out' from this actually. i just ported out to maxis, and i had been using the auto roaming in lion city for few days. even my mobile data is on (but of course data roaming is off), never kena any data charge under unbilled amount. so should be safe. smile.gif

when i am in sg, my mobile phone totally does not show 3G/4G sign while i roam to SingTel (partner), it means no data connection is even enabled for SingTel which I totally have no chance to use the data at all. While I am back to JB. It changes back to Maxis 4G. biggrin.gif

i am not new to maxis, i am on surfmore 75 for sometime. i only recently cancelled it and switch from celcom to maxis one 98. so far ok, even surfmore 75 is no longer offered, but they never force to change to other plan, in fact they recently free upgrade from 5gb to 7gb for this legacy plan which it is really surprising.

you seldom follow maxis history huh?

of course they wont force you to change to other plan but if you maintain the old plan you are paying more not less then they request you to upgrade to a better plan aka more expensive plan.

this upgrade just recently, because maxis offer secret plan to unloyal customers. i been following the debate on maxis page so many ppl flaming the Facebook. my friend got it its unlimited calls and sms with 5gb for rm68. so many got the offer and many call up maxis deny it. many of most us are maxis one club member. just my company alone we ported 15 numbers and from my friends at least 32 friends have switch to other telco. all this is in 2016 alone. i been with maxis since the prepaid simpack cost rm231. you do not know the history how do u support?
the longer u are support be benefit more right not same like everyone right?

we ported out because maxis stability got bad to worse.
i was having a plan rm80 with no unlimited calls and data i need add rm30 for 1gb.

now rm70 i got unlimited call, 15gb data with 7gb video and unlimited music streaming. this is what we call an upgrade.

maxis got no choice to pretend to give u an upgrade to reduce losing more customers.

have you try compare your upgrade with other telco? if u compare its not an upgrade its suppose to be your entitlement. question why this late?

Right after this new upgrade, my phone connection is no more 4g. Always H only now. You just want to avoid people using 4g on weekend ke maxis?

you seldom follow maxis history huh?

of course they wont force you to change to other plan but if you maintain the old plan you are paying more not less then they request you to upgrade to a better plan aka more expensive plan.

this upgrade just recently, because maxis offer secret plan to unloyal customers. i been following the debate on maxis page so many ppl flaming the Facebook. my friend got it its unlimited calls and sms with 5gb for rm68. so many got the offer and many call up maxis deny it. many of most us are maxis one club member. just my company  alone we ported 15 numbers and from my friends at least 32 friends have switch to other telco. all this is in 2016 alone. i been with maxis since the prepaid simpack cost rm231. you do not know the history how do u support?
the longer u are support be benefit more right not same like everyone right?

we ported out because maxis stability got bad to worse.
i was having a plan rm80 with no unlimited calls and data i need add rm30 for 1gb.

now rm70 i got unlimited call, 15gb data with 7gb video and unlimited music streaming. this is what we call an upgrade.

maxis got no choice to pretend to give u an upgrade to reduce losing more customers.

have you try compare your upgrade with other telco? if u compare its not an upgrade its suppose to be your entitlement. question why this late?
*
not really.

to be frank. the same packages (talktime, data, sms) are not even comparable among all the 4 main telcos.
i seriously do not expect maxis to charge the same for the similar package as other telcos. based on evidence, it is clear that maxis has better coverage, better speed, better customer service etc as compared to the rest of telcos.

it is the same as apple, they are known to give better quality product, therefore their price will be higher than others.

same goes to maxis actually.

previously i am on celcom rm80 first gold 80 (1.0 version) that comes with unlimited SMS, so it has exact the same package now as maxis one 98 for the same package items. even the first 80 2.0 has no unlimited SMS. so if i continues to use celcom, i can save rm18 monthly. but i still opted to port out from celcom to maxis.

other telcos they throw in more things to suit the customers' want of "less for more" because they want to compete with others. but maxis given all its strength, it does not need to throw price to compete with the rest.

and for maxis one 98 from last time 2GB -> 5GB -> 10GB + 10GB (now), frankly speaking, i find that they had done something to show sincerity also. therefore, even rm18 extra as compared with the rest. I still feel it is worthwhile to use maxis.

different telcos offer different services for different needs. if ppl are going for price, there are always choices like "u mobile, digi or even celcom" can give them the "less for more".

to be frank, if maxis offer the exact same price for the same package as the rest of telcos. it is no fight and the market will be totally changed too. i am sure that the choices will be no brainer to maxis. if it is really the case, i will be more worry if i remain in maxis, because the network will be congested as the bandwidth needs to be shared among so many users. frankly speaking, i am more happy to see lesser ppl are on maxis so i can enjoy more bandwidth. tongue.gif

First day on Maxis and already problem. Stupid maxis reseller registering my supp line on maxis go instead of one share.

Another annoying thing would be the wait for call center. Freaking 11 minutes listening to the lousy advertisement before someone attend me. Took 17 minutes in total. Damn...

not really. If what you claim is true i would not have switch to umobile. I carry maxis 4G hotlink, Yes 4G LTE, Yes 4G Broadband, Umobile P70

so i know the coverage . My review not based on yours use celcom switch to maxis in city. Both i use side by side so most places i go Umobile have better coverage than maxis from KL to Karak to Kuantan .

You call that sincerity. Anyway i didnt know you are fanboy of maxis so i think i am gonna end here but feel free to read the story in the link. Just that thread itself how many customers they lost. Did you read the FB maxis that they remove? No right.

Maxis needs people like you to survive. For me maxis coverage not the best anymore, stability not good line keep getting cutting off or no sound, price the most expensive i dont feel will be porting back to maxis but what you said is right the more people port out allows other telco to be competitive and upgrade their network so soon they will be better than maxis then u still be paying their expensive plan while others enjoying value for money.

Hahaha... every telco also have their weak points.

In the case for maxis, strongly agree on some points like how they abandoned their superb 3G to focus on 4G. Now their 3G network is crawling, but 4G is super fast. This poses a problem for user like me in the past where I don't have a 4G phone. My wife iphone 5 with 4G is surfing just finefine whereas I'm suffering with my Mi3 with 3G only. I ported out 2 years ago to digi and later on to Celcom. Having used them all, I have to say Maxis and Celcom is comparable when it comes to 4G. Maxis would have slight edge given that I get 1 bar more than I did with Celcom (S6E). Digi is a very mixed bag. Mostly bad ping. I only found one area superb with Digi which is Sungai Buloh/Rahman Putra area. Their 3G and 4G is brilliant there. As for UM, I think coverage wise is good but really bad ping for gaming. If you can get on their 4G then speed is okay. However if you don't, their 3G is horrible like maxis (since sharing tower).

i knew about the background of the story. i know that there are people who left maxis due to whatever reasons. but like i said, being a consumer, i will be happier to see that as the bandwidth i can enjoy will be better. tongue.gif

my point is that since there are so many other choices (cheaper and bigger portion), people should have gone for their so called "better choices" by now instead be angry about what maxis offers, if people really feel that the coverage/speed/customer service etc that other telcos are really better. if people are so concern and care about what maxis has done as compared with the rest. indirectly it means that people preferred maxis than the rest just that their concern is price so they are not willing to pay more for maxis, because people are hoping maxis to be cut the price to the same as other telcos that they have claimed to be better now. it is the same that a lot of ppl love apple products, but they end up choose other brands due to price alone. i have personally use digi->u mobile->celcom->maxis all before. i can say that that maxis is definitely not good at price but for the rest of areas (as of now and it is overall) better than any other telcos. Note that i said as of now, as things can always change, but as of now it is still the best (do note i say overall) therefore i do not mind to pay more for it.

it is known fact that typical bolehland ppl will value price over any other factors. so in the end, no matter what reasons claim or comparison done, in the end, actually price wins people will only go with price so the reasons or comparison claimed are to 'justify' the selection instead of price alone. if price is the only and ultimate selection concern, frankly speaking, it does not even need to 'decide' or 'choose' at all as it is very clear cut if price is the deciding factor no matter how.

You must be joking, Celcom has best customer service!!!

Used Celcom and ported out after 2 months. First their dealer screwed up my email address at registration and even when i raised it they asked me to call their customer service. WTF!! Called them and waited was so long I abandoned the call.

And here's the kicker, the next thing I received was a MACHINE Call telling me that I owe them money and line will be suspended if no payment made!!!!!

That's what you get with cheap cheap cheap. Plus I can attest that Celcom's speed is no where near Maxis. Signal shows 4G but the experience is slow.

u read the post clearly, i only said they answer the calls fastest comparing to maxis for their customer service hotline. when did i ever say that they have the best customer service?

i myself i ported out from celcom gold 1.0 to maxis one 98. one thing i cannot tahan celcom is the anyhow data roaming charges while i am now on maxis i have no such issue anymore.

For the past 2 weeks, It feels as though Maxis has been throttling their 3g speeds. It's so much slower than before. I'm seldom on 4g as it drains my iPhone battery.

ya, can feel that too but i think it is more of congestion issue not throttling. but most of the areas i went have good 4G coverage so not a big issue.

Hope this helps:

Oneplan 98: 10Gb (all day) + 10Gb (weekend)

Only the all day 10gb and 5gb is shareable. Weekend passes are not.

I am subscribed to MOP128 (contract ends in March 2017).

As I spend my weekdays at my own house and weekends at my parent's place, I have also subscribed to Celcom First Gold Internet, since Maxis coverage at my parent's place is only EDGE. Kesiannn.. Celcom's coverage is OK at my own place, but Maxis is still faster. If Maxis is downloading at 30Mbps, then Celcom is downloading at 5Mbps.

So after a year of using both Celcom (Internet only) and Maxis, I am very tempted to opt out from Maxis and port to Celcom Gold Plus. And then terminate the Celcom First Gold Internet. Celcom's device plan is also so much better than what Maxis Zerolution is offering.

I have been with Maxis for close to 10 years now. I need Maxis' dependable coverage, but am so sick of paying the expensive bills. Any advice?

If price is ur concern, then leave maxis. If quality is the concern, stay with Maxis. There is no such thing as cheapest and best.

All the telcos basically offer cheaper price with bigger portion which it technically meets the general decision criteria for majority of the bolehland ppl.

Hi,

The promo is still on. rclxm9.gif

MaxisOne 98 can have 2 supplementary, but only one can be under MaxisOne Share 48. Refer: http://www.maxis.com.my/en/personal/plans/...s/maxisone.html .

TQ

The rm48 share line is more worth it than the rest of supplementary line types.

When will I see the rebate? I had ported in from Celcom to Maxis under my Maxis's friend's refer since 23 November 2016. But in my first bill of 14 December I never see the rebate.

Yes it is, but one 98 main line can only have 1 share 48 sub.. I got 2 sub lines so need to sacrifice one

maybe it is worthwhile even to upgrade to rm128 by adding rm30 to take advantages fully with 2 subline, since the data are shareable for all day data also.

at least everyone no matter main or sub lines are worry free about talktime, sms and data (since there are so much data to share among all)

Thought about that as well. But one of the sub don't need unlimited calls & SMS. So a plan that got some small data allowance + minutes would be enough

One more question
Is international roaming automatically activated upon registration? If not, is it after 6 months to waive the deposit?

Must really give a big thumb up to Maxis. I am on the way driving from JB to KL. from JB to melaka now. All the way along the highway there is full coverage with 4G. Speed is damn fast, can streamy YouTube with no disconnection at all, damn smooth.

I remembered sometimes in September, the network at most I can get is 3G while moving sometimes totally no network. Now it is fully covered. Well done Maxis!
